Default Dead Pixels....

I have 4 dots on the upper half of the screen and 4 dots on the lower bottom of the screen near the center. 8 "dead pixels" all together. This happens ONLY when I play Doomsday blu-ray. Every other blu ray is perfectly fine. There are no "dead pixels" when I watch any other movie, music, PS3 menu screen.

This ONLY happens when I watch Doomsday in full mode. I'm not quite sure what was happening but I already began thinking about how much of a b*tch it will be to have to return this set.

I took Doomsday out and am going to return it to netflix. Could it possibly be a defective disk? I'm not quite sure what to think right now. I just ordered Doomsday to own, too.

Dead pixels should happen in every screen on every movie on every setting right? Not just certain settings?

Hmmm, what color are these dots? Could be defective disk, if it's only showing up in that movie. It would show up in all, but could that there blending in.

If it's "real" dead pixels they should show on any screen... well depending what color they are. They might blend in and you won't even know it until you play something else.

How long have you had the tv for?

Did you try not to play Doomsday in full mode?

I tried to play Doomsday in all the modes of my TV. The 8 dots only show up in "Full" mode. Every other mode, the dots arent there. They are located in the region of the black bars, at the very top and the very bottom of the screen. They are in symmetrical places on opposite sides of the screen. I have never seen this before on any other movie. Doomsay in Full mode is the only one. They go away when I zoom or do other viewing modes. I tried playing other widescreen movies in Full mode and there are no "dead pixels". If I'm not mistaken, when Dead Pixels arise, they are permanent, right? It shouldn't "choose" which movies to be dead on... right?

Does not sound like dead pixels. Stuck/dead pixels will be present all of the time, and are best seen when running the break-in pictures. Some may show-up on red, others on white, etc... If you see something that is only there on a specific movie using a specific setting, it's the disc, not your set. Don't worry about it.

Put the break in images on the SD Card and run the slideshow. Check for dead pixels on each but they will pretty much pop at u on the white screen.

I was so nervous when I looked for dead pixels on my panny. If you have 1 or 2 chances are you wont even notice them. I have one on my LCD and it never bugged me until I looked for it and saw it lol After that I swear I saw it on every single white screen lol I think my lcd is not dead but stuck pixel.

They're not dead pixels. They're a glitch with Doomsday's U-Control stream. Turn it on and of again and there ya go... no white dots.

So did I! I mean thats what's making me really consider buying the 5020FD from Amazon. If plasmas get dead pixels then i'd rather spend a little more and get it from BB which is right down the street for me.

plasmas do get dead pixels. mine has a few. i think it's common actually. i thought it would bug me after finding them but i cannot see it from my viewing distance of 7 feet and even up close i cannot see them unless i am looking for them.
even though my set is only a few weeks old, i am not going to return it. chances are i'd end up with another tv with dead pixels.

There are three types of issue pixels. They can happen on any TV no matter how new or old it is. I had an old 25" CRT that had a hot pixel dead center.

Dead Pixels are pixels that show up as black since they will not portray any information.

Stuck pixels are pixels that will not show anything other then the color they are stuck on, which are typically red, blue, or green (RGB).

Hot pixels are pixels that are stuck on white. Some also lump this into the stuck pixel category.

Only stuck and hot pixels can usually be fixed. The one suggstion I have heard over and over is the Cars BD since the scenes have a lot of motion and acts as a screen wipe to an extent.
