Further, flyry just speculated that Steedeel was mad that no one cared about his concerns (with an unnecessary emphasis attached). Steedeel countered with "as usual, you are talking out of your a...", which is far more inflammatory than the comment that it was in response to. I only point it out because Steed likes to pretend he treats everyone nicely and with respect when he actually does not. He slings mud with the worst of us. I know what a jackass I can be; I don't make believe otherwise. Last edited by Vilya; 02-18-2019 at 09:51 AM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ummm.... no it's not. Did you actually pay attention to my posts that you were replying to, or were you too busy picking your nose so deeply that it effected the part of your brain that controls reading comprehension? For any releases that I've bought since the 4K format launched, I've been buying the 4K/Blu-Ray combo packs if there is such a release for them. I have over 100 4K releases. Here is my collection filtered for just the 4K releases (be sure to see the pages at the bottom to click on, for some reason when filtering it splits things up really weird): https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/searc...rtby=relevance Plus there are also a small handful of "gray areas" that won't show up in that search, where a movie had a Steelbook release that I really wanted, but did not have an option where the Steelbook came with the 4K disc, so I bought the Steelbook at the store and bought the 4K separately through ebay and put it in the case. (usually removing a DVD that came with the regular Blu-Ray disc). Since I only added the non-4K Steelbook to my collection in those instances, those won't come up when filtering my collection by 4K titles. To be clear, the laughing emojis had nothing to do with you have fewer 4K movies than me, but rather you insisting that I had none despite me stating several times that I've been buying them since the format launched. But you may want to pay attention before making such declarations as this. Edit: I just saw some of the follow up conversations. No, I wasn't looking to have a pissing contest. I was honestly genuinely curious and inquiring how many 4K releases you had with my earlier post since you said that you had bought many since your past posts stating what you have. And seriously, that was your attempt as sarcasm? Because it didn't come across as sarcastic at all... just ill informed and presumably not paying attention to posts that you were replying to. When it comes to physical vs. digital issue, you and I are both on the same side in preferring physical media, and we are both doing our parts to support it. That's why, despite me not fully having a proper set up to benefit from it, I've been buying the 4K combo packs - both because I will want to benefit from them when I eventually do upgrade my TV, and also because I want to support the format as much as I can to help the overall cause of the best quality of physical media. I know I'm harsh with you sometimes, with my most recent previous post being no exception. But it's mostly in regards to your extreme crazy predictions (in this most recent instance, your insinuation that I had no 4K discs despite repeatedly specifying otherwise). I really don't have any kind of larger "beef" with you. Last edited by Dynamo of Eternia; 02-18-2019 at 04:12 PM. |

Vilya, have a read of this. It is English but I think it applies to a global market.
Point 1 especially. https://www.football365.com/news/the...on-tv-part-two It talks about a 90 mi ute football game but I think it applies to films too. I think we are hitting a point in time hen younger people are just not going to watch long form passive entertainment. I have said this for years now and get shot down but I must insist. This viewpoint is being echoed now even by sports sites. Gaming is massive but passive entertainment to the younger generation is going to die a slow death it seems. Not only are HQ HT days numbered, so is film in general. The big question to me (I’m 44) is which does first. Movies or me? Last edited by Steedeel; 02-18-2019 at 05:26 PM. |

![]() ![]() Most people that watched the 4+ hour long Super Bore this year did so on a large screen. More than 100 million of them tuned into the Big Snore. If I had been forced to watch it; I would have been attracted to my phone also. Checking for belly button lint, mine or others ![]() People direct their attention to where their interest lies. Tuning out of a sports game during a lull in action, of which there are many, to check on what your friends are doing is perfectly understandable. If a movie or TV program becomes boring, it is just human nature to seek something more interesting to do. The answer is to create better content; binge watching a beloved show alone demonstrates how readily people can focus their attention when they are truly interested. Young people still love watching movies; they still buy movie tickets. When they get their own homes, they buy big TVs, too. Movie box office is UP. TV sales are UP. Home theaters and movies are doing just fine. The sun will rise tomorrow and all of these will still be with us. Last edited by Vilya; 02-18-2019 at 08:12 PM. |

It is really pretty simple. If you truly prize courtesy and respectful treatment of others, you have to strive to conduct yourself in that manner with everyone. Only being nice to the people that are nice to you is not a virtue; it requires no effort and it gives no testimony to your character. There is a reason why diplomacy is a skill and kindness a virtue. It is because they require patience, tolerance, understanding, compassion, and lots, and LOTS, of practice. I certainly need more practice and so do you. ![]() |

Your gloomy absolute outcomes are always based upon not just one "if", but a whole series of them, and none of them supported by any hard facts. The only thing that you should be worried about is all of the worrying that you do. Doesn't playing console games on a big TV for hours on end constitute "engagement?" Young people engage in many things, as do I; it's just that maybe they do so differently than you do and therein lies your fear? You simply do not identify with your perception of them. Here is giant "if" right now: What if your worst fears were valid, what action do you expect any of us to take? If all you expect is for us to quiver with fear and await our doom, why bother? I will NEVER choose to live my life afraid. I think the future of home entertainment, and much more besides, will be simply grand. My vision for the future is one of excitement and anticipation, yours is a needless source of unfounded anxiety. I'll take mine over yours hands down. |

I watch a lot of docos on Netflix but usually buy physical for a movie I will want to keep. My collection however it getting too big so I now only buy very rare movies you can't download.
Last night I watched Bohemian Rhapsody rented via Apple TV. I have high speed internet and a surround sound Atmos set up. 65" OLED TV. The HDR image quality was fine, but I found the "Atmos" track streamed incredibly lacking. It was flat and I had no sense of any surround. The film basically sounded stereo. I wouldn't buy a movie digitally because of the chance of having it taken away and Apple rentals are expensive - $7 a movie. I can pick a title I will watch more than once up for $30 or less. Plus there is the issue of titles all being scattered across too many platforms. I have Netflix and Apple and wouldn't be willing to have to manage more than that. I do believe online is an unavoidable future but I still don't think it is quite there yet. |
