Reports are saying the Kaepernick settlement was nowhere as lucrative as initially believed, which reporters had guessed at anywhere from $40-$80 million. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk posted the following in the linked article:

Quote:
Fourth, multiple people connected to the league have, without disclosing the number, downplayed the settlement as an amount that will cover the league’s anticipated legal expenses for the duration of the arbitration, with perhaps a bit more. (The anticipated legal expenses weren’t disclosed; chances are those amounts would have been in the seven figures, not in the eight figures.)
Dan Patrick said on his radio show this morning that he heard Kaepernick had less than a 0% chance of winning his suit and that the settlement was made just to get it over with. Peter King had similar comments in his article this morning, saying the NFL was confident that there was no proof of collusion and that after season largely free of controversy they just wanted to get this case to end.

I read the only way any indication of the settlement can be found out is by looking at Green Bay's open books since each team in the league has to chip in towards the settlement. Whatever the case, I'm just glad it's over.

Kaep's people leak a number saying $80m and now other sources say much lower.

Both sides trying to apply media spin, we may never know who really "won."

The initial number may have been correct, and now the league is trying to discredit it so they don't look so much like the big losers in this whole ordeal. Either way, the more we have to keep hearing about it, the only people who really lose are us. Kaep's getting a good amount of money and the NFL is losing some change underneath the sofa cushions.

Some media reports out there are leaving out the context. Allen was at an autograph signing, and for an extra fee you could get a personalized autograph. A fan paid the money and asked him to write that about Ramsey on the autographed photo.

Antonio Brown on 2/16 on whether he's requesting a trade because he wants a new contract:

Quote:
Not for the money its for the love of the sport ! The commitment to win relentlessly consistently passionately ! Plus I made 70 million it’s public record not to be cocky just truth! Time to play for my own Team AB84 the family !
Brown on 2/18:

Quote:
"If your squad want to win and your squad want a hungry wide receiver who's the best in the whole world, someone hit my phone." "Tell them I ain't doing no unguarantees. I ain't even gonna play myself no more for this NFL. ... I think I done everything. What y'all think? What's left for me to do? Win a Super Bowl? Gotta be the right team for that, right? ... If your team got guaranteed money, they want to get to know me and work with me, tell them to call me."
So Brown clearly wants a trade and a new contract. Brown will be 31 by the start of next season and even if there's a team willing to give up enough to get AB they'd also need to be willing to give him a contract that would likely make him the highest-paid receiver in the league. Good luck with that.

In an Instagram Live (linked below), Antonio Brown said he is looking for guaranteed money from his next team.
"If your team got guaranteed money, they want to get to know me and work with me, tell them to call me," Brown said while doing cardio on Monday. Brown's current deal is set to pay him nearly $39 million in salary and bonuses over the next three years, but none of that money is guaranteed. Brown said over the weekend money had nothing to do with his desire to leave Pittsburgh, but it appears to be at least a factor. On Monday before this video was posted, NBC Sports' Peter King reported Brown's social media campaign has scared off at least one team. This video is unlikely to help.

“Tell them I ain’t doing no unguarantees”

Ah Antonio, your vast lexicon makes you quite the wordsmith.
Stay classy.
Someone tell this dummy that his use of a double negative, actually translates to him wanting “unguarantees”.

Antonio Brown met today with Art Rooney, per source. Then Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus joined the meeting, as did Steelers’ GM Kevin Colbert and exec Omar Kahn. Meeting was cordial and “everyone agreed the trade will be for the best,” per source.

I hope he gets traded to a team with little chance of winning.

Eh he is such a diva I am souring on him coming to the Niners unless they write up a very team friendly contract. Now that everyone knows he's officially on the block I wouldn't be surprised if teams held off to see if he gets outright waived (not sure of the cap hit PIT takes if so)
Also totally forgot about LeVeon. Wonder where he lands
