Possibly a dumb question but in that case, how does one own their own creation? Through self-financing? Or are there still some hurles to overcome?

Artists rarely own their creations, unless you're George Lucas (before he sold everything). So yes, self-financing, or after you got so much money you buy it.

They're respected as the auteur though. General public will always see it as their film, not the studios'.

Can't wait. Had the honor of meeting him a few years ago and made those couple of minutes feel special. Not really interested in loads of names popping up plus I really dont wanna see WWE being paid for their names showing up if thats the case

So, M. Night self financed his last 3 films. Does that mean he could just take them from Universal/Blumhouse and release them through another studio?

It truly sucks when an artist doesn’t own his/her creations. That’s partly why I don’t want to be in the show business.

Hogan and Eric Bischoff (two of the three biggest bulls**tters in the wrestling biz) being creative involved with the production.....yeah.

Quite honestly I thought this was an early April Fools joke, but this is a Netflix production so it kind of makes sense.

It will be interesting to see if they leave certain controversies out, or if they're going to paint a clean nice picture.

So then, this "biopic" will completely ignore his reality show, sex tape, and racist rant. How boring.

You mean the "sex tape" that his ex-friend set up with his ex-wife and secretly recorded Hogan to use as blackmail and to destroy Hogan's career/image? No, but it should, to show the betrayal and character assassination he's endured in later life.

This is only about his rise to fame. I'd say there will be a few name drops but no other big wrestling characters will appear on screen.

Should end with his first WWE title win. Save stuff for a trilogy

Surprised Hemsworth or Cooper signed on for this as it has a chance to play pretty badly with little upside and they don't need it. It's in pretty questionable taste to portray anyone who was last in the spotlight for really gross racist tirades without including that let alone someone whose character by definition is supposed to be a hero and role model which the Hulk Hogan character is and will undoubtedly be at least mostly portrayed as in any film Hogan has input on.

They still refer to them as sex tapes? Why not sex SD cards, or other relevant media?

I wonder if they will cover Hogan being influenced by (lifting his entire gimmick from) Superstar Billy Graham. I'd be more interested in seeing a biopic on the other guy who lifted his whole gimmick from Billy Graham, Jesse Ventura. Hell, even a SBG biopic would be better.

Chris Hemsworth is almost comically miscast as Hogan. Hogan in his heyday was 6'6-6'7 well over 300 lbs. He had huge arms, legs, chest and big ol head. He could stand toe to toe with Andre the Giant and not look out of place. But he was never chiseled. Chris Hemsworth is like a chiseled GQ model. There's no way in hell the look is gonna work. Also I can't even begin to picture him trying to sound like Hogan, or even worse, cut a Hulk Hogan promo. Everything about his casting is wrong. It's gonna be a ****ing trainwreck. Also, I get that Hulk Hogan is one of probably the top 5 most famous wrestlers of alltime, but I could name dozens of wrestlers who are more deserving of a biopic. Hulk Hogan was a larger than life talent, but outside of that his life was fairly ordinary and conventional. There's nothing that really stands out as being made for the big screen. Yeah I dunno, I'm highly skeptical of this.

Yes, it is a general term referring to any recording of a sexual act.

Damn dudes. Cant they make this about Hulk Mania alone? Do it really need to be controversial?? Just like Glow characters. They are far from perfect and if they ever reached the spotlight like Hogan did i wonder what each of them would do.

This movie will be about the birth and rise of Hulkamania based on that piece.

I wonder if it'll cover No Holds Barred.

Yup, but what part of these events do you find interesting, the way they played out or the facets of the private man they perhaps reveal? They can still tackle his racism for instance if they actually grow a pair and don't just sugarcoat his life!

His racist rant didn't prevent this biopic from happening. They might as well tackle it, it obviously makes no difference.

Maybe Netflix should do a Roseanne biopic next. Melissa McCarthy would be an excellent choice
