I have the GameShark (Mad Catz) BT headset for my PS3. I can't hear people on it. It worked fine until yesterday, and then for no apparent reason it quit. I have the output device on system default now, but when I switch it to "8600" (the headset) I can't hear anyone, but they can hear me. I don't want to listen to people over my speakers. It's really annoying. I've tried repairing with the PS3, but it didn't do anything. Thanks.

Hmm... I hate to say this, but I think the 3rd party peripheral curse strikes again.
I only say this in reference to the headset because it is made by a traditional third party console peripheral maker. Mad Catz has, in my opinion, been one of the worst third party peripheral makers of all time. I think their build quality has come back to bite you Aaron. If you get your headset replaced, I'd go with a Jabra BT or Motorola BT headset. At the very least you'll be getting a product from a company with a very good track record, in as far as Blue Tooth technologies are concerned. |

I heard some really bad things about the MadCatz brand which is why I returned my $50.00 mic a week after purchasing it because it never seemed to work! I suggest you do the right thing and get your money back, you should think about buying that Warhawk bundle that comes with a Jabra BT headset with the game. MadCatz sucks, don't waste your money on their stuff in the future.

Before the Headset can be used with the PS3, the two devices must be ‘paired’ so they can communicate with each other. Use a gaming controller for this procedure and ensure that the Headset is powered off.
1. Power on your PS3 console. 2. Within the “Settings” menu, press X on “Accessory Settings.” 3. Press X on the icon labeled: “Register Bluetooth® Device.” 4. Scroll down and press X on the icon labeled: “Register Headset/Microphone/Headphones.” 5. Once at the next screen, prepare the Headset to be paired with the PS3 by holding down the K1 button until the LED flashes Blue and Red (hold K1 approx 12 seconds). 6. Once the Headset’s LED indicator is alternately flashing Blue and Red (indicating the Headset is ready to be paired), press X on “Start Scanning.” 7. Once Scan is complete, the PS3 will recognize all Bluetooth devices within range. 8. Locate “8860” from the list of available devices and press X on its icon to be prompted for a Pass Key 9. Enter 0000 (four zeros) as the Pass Key and press X on OK 10. You should then be taken to a new screen stating: “Register completed” Trouble Shooting Q. The PS3 is unable find the Headset. A. If the Headset has been paired with another Bluetooth device, the PS3 will have trouble finding the Headset. Either remove the Headset from the paired device or turn off the Bluetooth power on the paired device. Q. The Headset cannot be activated after being charged for 20 minutes. A. To activate the Headset, the battery needs to charge for at least 40 minutes. It is highly recommended to fully charge the battery before use. Q. No indication of charging is shown. A. If the Headset battery is empty or has not been used for a long time, it may take some time for the Headset LED indicator to show charging status with a steady Red light. Q. No sound can be heard from the Headset. A. -Make sure that the two devices have been paired. -Make sure that the Headset is turned on. -Make sure that the two paired devices are within 30 Ft. (9.15 meters) of each other. *** Do not try to pair the headset to the PLAYSTATION 3 when the headset is attached to the USB cable. If it is attached to the USB cable when trying to pair up, it won't pair with the PLAYSTATION 3. *** |
