No offense taken. Just having a little fun with Xerious' answer. But I do appreciate the info on the other HDMI cable sources. My purchases are usually spur of the moment aquisitions and too impatient to look on-line etc. for a better deal.

i'm a label *****, i admit... i'd rather buy a SONY than a TOSHIBA and or a SAMSUNG over a WESTINGHOUSE for the name itself... don't know why, but i guess i like gettin' bent over and takin' it while they raid my wallet... i've yet to be disappointed though

Whatever you choose to purchase I would recommend it be 24kt gold plated (to minimize oxidization) and is a good conductor (again silver is a better conductor) plus I would also look for an OFC (oxygen free cable) which will also help prevent long term oxidization internally of the wiring. Seperately insulated wiring with an insulation wrapper, RF filters are nice, but debatable for some and winding help prevent interference. m to m is most common. Here's a pretty good link to refer to, forewarned however it skews a bit towards Monster marketing, but none-the-less is a good learning tool for HDMI.

HDMI ties the HD system together. Signal loss occurs using any other connection method. I don't understand why SONY's PS3 does not include HDMI. They have chosen to provide only the lowest common denominator composite video. I have friends who are using it because that is what came in the box. They are missing out on Blu-ray even if they have the rest of the HD system. While knowledgeable people will use an electronics device to its fullest potential, 50% who purchase a 16:9 TV don't understand how to use it. Why do you have go back to the store to get something that should already be there?

Oxygen-Nitro Cables
Imagine you are out to buy a new 8cyl car. You take it out for a test drive expecting it to pull out ahread of traffic. Instead it is slow, sluggish, and does not deliver the lightning acceleration as advertised. After looking under the hood, you find the source of the problem. Four very cheap wires going to just 4 cylinders. You ask why? The salesperson explains that to get full power, you need to purchase another four wires. Imagine too, that to get the full set of eight waires, you have to replace them all with the $1,000 steel braded super charged oxygen-nitro type. I'm sure there would be few kind words for the salesperson for unscrupulausly setting you back another grand. So why do we the do this to our video?

Good heavens. Buy the monoprice $5 cable. In the VERY unlikely event that it fails, buy another $5 cable.

There's no difference in the picture.

Once you've gone to the site. Hover over one of the HDMI cables and click the yellow box it will tell you all about HDMI cables. Click on each grade to find out what the difference of each is.

You will get better PQ with HDMI, as there is no lossy D/A & A/D conversion that you have with analogue component. Also, life gets simpler as digital is over a single cable. I was never a fan of always struggling to untangle the rats nest of analogue wires behind my set.
