me I like the old ones with out the CGI added in. but they look like S**T on DVD they didnt enhance them only enhanced the ones with CGI. WHY? will the Blu-ray have both with and with out CGI?

The orignal were not release on DVD from the masters but from the laserdisc release back in the 80's, they were not retouch. Do not expect the original version on BD however. Me along with many wish them to be available but I doubt they will be release in their original version on BD.

Look @ the material you could get if it’s documented.

Character concepts & design
Spec. effects
Makeup
Casting
Vehicle concepts and design

and my personal hope: the birth of the lightsaber!!! how it came to be, what the original inspiration was behind this deadly yet beautiful weapon!!!

It’s unreal how much we could get if only george opens up and gives the fans what they want.

Out of curiosity, would episode 2 & 3 be mastered at the usual 4k mark like other films? As it was shot on HD video, 1920x1080 IRRC?

Cheers.

This is awesome! Jeebuz - the studios should let enthusiastic fans create the disc art instead of the marketing flunkies they use now!

star wars was fun when they did arrive (1977, 1981, 1983) but these films is nothing I scream after. When they come okey but there is so many others I want first.

I was a huge star wars fan but now I can live with out them.

A first day buy for me.
Got about $600 for that set?

That's a nice package, but for me, I'd "only" need the the first two lines of that set: Episodes 1-6 (in the remastered/doctored-up versions...fine by me); then also the original episodes 4-6 in absolutely untouched format. Bonus discs and all that would be cool with me, but I'm really most interested in the movies themselves.

I have a bad feeling that they're only going to release a box set with episodes 1-6, with 4-6 in retouched formats...but we all can dream about seeing original versions on Blu.

That being said, I'd still drop $130 - $150 or so on a six-disc set (well, seven discs or whatever if you're counting bonus material and all that).

These should have been mocked up as Steelbooks, I can hear the SW fans having a heart attack from here !!!

Not one for me either. Never been a fan. As you say there is so much more out there, except SW films will probably never make it into my collection.

Yoda to George Lucas:
Please your fans, you will.
Release Star Wars BDs, you will.

In a set, these discs should be.
With many special features, they shall have.

Two trilogies, there must be.
Original three and prequels they must be.

Two versions of Ep. IV-VI, you must have.
Theatrical and Special Editions, fans can choose.

Lucas to Yoda:
You do not know the power of the Dark Side! I must obey my master. It is too late for me now.

Luke to Lucas:
No, I sense the good in you. I can feel your conflict. Let go of your hate.

May the farce be with you

I've decided I don't want to spend anymore money on the special editions. I'll only buy the BDs if it's the original versions.

No doubt, we'll have to go through another battle to get the originals on BD. Lucas will release the special editions first, and then after a few years of listening to fans whine, he'll finally release crap quality versions on BD.

if Lucas doesnt release the originals remastered, not the damn Laserdisc versions, then I'll pass on every single movie when/if it's released on Blu Ray. No thanks, George.

now if he does the unthinkable and does exactly that, I'll go ahead and purchase the prequels too....as a token of my appreciation.

You know, interesting thing about 'Back To The Future'.
A couple of months ago I read that it would be released, beginning this year, ON DVD!
Which just made no sense to me since Blu-ray was just starting to hit stores more and more.
I also don't know if that new DVD-set is already out or not, I don't think so but didn't check.
But indeed weird that it's not out or announced yet, being a much-wanted movie.

By the way, any word on 'Star Wars' coming to Blu-ray?

All kidding aside though, it should be great, I hope the packaging also not too "Blu'd-up".
It's bad enough on most films, let alone for the style of 'Star Wars'. :S
