I've got the R3 sets of Police Story 1-3 and Project A 1-2 (plus a shitload of HKL DVDs) but I never got around to buying the R3 Armour of God set, so getting a half-decent version of Operation Condor (which is damned near miraculous in and of itself) on UK Blu-ray for a fiver is a result in my book.

An upscale with remixed audio and dubtitles does NOT sound 'half-decent' to me.

I wouldn't pay 5p for it.

More faithful versions are out there for people who want to import them, but for this particular distributor it's a bloody marvel considering the pig's ear that they recently made of the Turtles movie. That's all I'm saying guys; it's not the greatest Blu-ray ever made but I'm shocked that it turned out as well as it did, and in this case (being one of Jackie's sillier films) I don't feel that I missed out on anything due the hinky subtitles. YMMV.

Does anyone know whether the original Cantonese sound mix is mono or stereo? Thanks!

Well, that`s all changing now, isn't it? Now we have some of Chan`s best work on 1080p blu-ray from either 2 or 4k masters.

Now that this thread has resurfaced: I've been buying all the Jackie Chan releases from Eureka and 88 Films, plus HK editions of Police Story 3 and Drunken Master II which, as I understand, have rights issues that might prevent USA/UK releases in the near future.

I'd love to get Armour of God I and II, but I'm not sure what the status is on that. As I undestand it, the nordic 8 film box set has new masters, OAR and generally good picture quality, but they only feature the English dub. I see that there are HK releases as well, which I'm guessing come from the same master. Are the english subtitles on those really dubtitles? How likely is a release of both these films with the new masters, original audio and good English subtitles in the near future?

Thanks!

Thanks Captain Obvious, keep up the great work. It's wonderful that a 2015 post has been 'fixed' in 2019.

MrSillywalks, where did you get your DMII/Supercop from? I've checked the usual places but the prices seem pretty steep at the moment

Well, the Mediumrare Armour of God release is the most recent master (2k?) that I am aware of. The HK releases are upscales for these two movies as far as I know.

Try dddhouse or buyoyo. Probably your best best.

I got them from dddhouse. It was cheaper than play-asia and yesasia when I checked, including shipping to Spain. Still expensive, though.

You might be right about the master for the first one, but if I'm not mistaken the nordic release has the orignial aspect ratio, while Mediumrare's doesn't. Here's a comparison from another thread:

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/122156

Armour of God II, I think, does have a new master in the nordic relase, you can see the comparison with the upscale here:

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/122158

As I understand it, the Armour of God 2 Mediumrare discussed in this thread is also an upscan, isn't it?

The problem with the nordic release (discussed here https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=308838&page=3) is that has only english audio.

Yeah, it looks like the masters used for the Nordic release would be the way to go other than the crappy audio tracks getting used. I have the Mediumrare release of AOG and though it may not be the OAR, it’s good enough for me, for now. Now, with AOG 2: OC, I have the Kam Blu-ray supposed upscale and it looks pretty good. Only complaint is some missing nighttime colored blue filters which were in the theatrical release that I saw and audio. And, I also have a rare Japanese extended theatrical cut on Blu-ray scanned from an actual 35mm print.

I do hope that Eureka get to release AOG and OC someday. They could really do something nice with it.

I think it is safe to drop the "supposed" word from now on:

I hope so too.. actually I'm "waiting" for them to do a AOG box set, I already sold my Mediumrare AOG1 and the K&R AOG2 upscale. Mediumrare license might be ending any day now and then Eureka could pick up both movies. I HOPE! Though I fear that the not sold out limited first pressings of their other JC releases might make them think twice. Niche market..

Sold my AOG 1 in the same hopes. Got what I paid for it, so no big deal. Hopefully the Wheels on Meals sales will persuade Eureka to do an AOG 1 & 2 boxset and my hopes for a Young Master / Dragon Lord boxset

I've never bought from buyoyo, are they a safe place to buy from? Their site is very outdated and I'm a little weary of sites like this that I've never used before. I see they have Gorgeous bluray for $11 USD which is very tempting.
