I haven't heard any rumblings of issues. The trailers looked interesting enough.
I wonder why this was pulled. I cannot imagine being so bad as to not release it.

I clicked that link and it didn't state whether its a wide or limited.

I assume that when a film is left blank, then it's limited.

Example, you don't see a film like The Beach Bum getting a wide release.

On the Box Office Mojo release calendar, film titles that are bolded are wide releases, those that aren't are limited releases.

Why would a big sci-fi movie like this get a limited release? Or maybe it's a smaller-scale, artsy movie and I had the wrong impression of it all along?

It could be the latter if it's getting such a limited release.
When they initially pulled it from the schedule, I thought something was wrong with the movie.

Of course the worrying thing behind suddenly pulling the film from the schedule and then giving it a limited release (for a film that does not seem suited for a limited release) is that the film might be getting dumped. It's possible that if they really have no faith in the movie, they feel it's best to cut their losses and not to invest the money needed for a wide release marketing campaign (though I've seen a fair amount of advertising for it already), and might just give it a limited release to fulfill any theatrical release clauses.

Which poses the question, how bad could this possibly be for Focus not to have any faith in it?

So, to sum up: opening in March, but it ain't, but oh yeah, actually it is. And it'll be a wide release, except that it's opening limited, but no, actually it's wide.
