This is in no particular order and I really tried to limit it to one album per artist. However this is a pretty accurate list of what I would consider my top 10 favorite albums.

Thanks. Yeah honestly, there are several others I could easily substitute. I could easily do an 11-20, which would probably easier for me than 1-10.

I've never really put much time and thought into my top 10 albums. Mostly due to the fact that my music tastes have always shifted around, but settled mostly in punk. So I guess this is a rough list of some albums I enjoy from different genres.

Why destroyer over hotter than hell, rock and roll over, self titled? I know destroyer is considered the best but I like so many of their other 70s records more.

For my tastes I'd choose Lennon over Dylan but you can't go wrong with either.

Just offering my two cents. Those other albums are good but, to me, there were songs on them that weren't as good as Destroyer. I can put that on and love the entire album. Also, the production on that is top notch. Much better than some of the earlier albums. It's not their fault. By the time they were making Destroyer, there was more money.

Because it's the first KISS album I ever got and it's had a lasting impact in me.

Because its home to more live concert staples than any other KISS album.

Because Beth is by far KISS' biggest commercial hit.

Because it's the only 70's KISS studio album where I dont prefer the live versions of the songs over the studio versions.

Because Detroit Rock City is my all time favorite KISS song.

Because Shout It Out Loud is a superior anthem to Rock And Roll All Nite.

Because Bob Ezrin pushed the band and maximized their skills more than any other producer.

Because sonically it's the best sounding album KISS did in the 70's (the 2012 remixed "Resurrected" version sounds even better,).

Default Top 10

Awesome lists, guys. I only checked out the first page but you all seem like students of rock. The 60s and 70s may be my favorite period overall, but ultimately this exercise primarily autobiographical, so these are my favorite ten:

1. Aztec Camera - High Land, Hard Rain
2. Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps
3. PJ Harvey - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea
4. The Replacements - Tim
5. My Bloody Valentine - mbv
6. The Blue Nile - Hats
7. Aimee Mann - Whatever
8. Sigur Rós - Takk...
9. Squeeze - Argybargy
10 a.Tommy Keene - Songs From The Film
10 b. Ryan Adams - Love is Hell, Pt. 1

I included the Ryan Adams record, which in reality could have been Gold, Heartbreaker, or even his self titled 2014 record. His music was a mainstay throughout my late teens to mid twenties and made as much of a mark as any of the records on my list. Since the underage sexting controversy, however, I've let his presence slip. Not out of judgement or any moral reasons, it just feels like that chapter has closed. I can't explain it, I just reach for other records when I want something emotional to sink into. Hopefully it's temporary as he's made some damn fine records and I couldn't imagine them being wiped away from my rotation.

Anyway, at 10a I included Songs from the Film. A criminally underrated record. The expanded edition is particularly great as it has the Run Now EP which contains the wonderfully mopey "I Don't Feel Right at All." 3 1/2 minutes of pure bliss that any 'Mats fan will instantly love (Adams included, that Prisoner guitar sound seems like it was birthed out of this one song). R.I.P. Tommy.

With you being such a huge Dylan fan I would have expected to see a few Band albums in there.

I love the Basement Tapes and the first two The Band albums. If I expanded my list to 50 it would include those three albums and a whole lotta Grateful Dead.

I'm cheating with a couple of box sets and making this my desert island list more than objective pop music album list. Also, I can't do just 10. Lucky for me I have a limitless battery and storage space on my player and excellent headphones on my desert island.

1. The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society
2. Rubber Soul- The Beatles
3. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
4. Slanted and Enchanted- Pavement
5. The Complete Columbia Recordings- Billie Holiday
6. The Anthology Of American Folk Music
7. The Complete Recordings - Robert Johnson
8. Irish Heartbeat - Van Morrison & The Chieftains
9. If I Should Fall From Grace With God - The Pogues
10. Gillian Welch - The Harrow & The Harvest
11. The White Album- The Beatles
12. World Gone Wrong - Bob Dylan
13. The Complete Columbia Recordings- Frank Sinatra
14. In A Silent Way- Miles Davis
15. Queen Of Soul - Aretha Franklin
16. Vaughan Williams Complete Symphonies - Adrian Boult/London Phil
17. The Symphony Edition - Leonard Bernstein/NY Phil (I REEEEEALLLY cheated here.)
18. Human Amusements At Hourly Rates - Guided By Voices
19. Bootleg Series Vol. 11: The Basement Tapes - Bob Dylan/The Band
20. Hot Buttered Soul - Isaac Hayes
21. Liege & Leaf- Fairport Convention
22. Hell Among The Yearlings - Gillian Welch
23. American Recordings- Johnny Cash
24. Led Zeppelin III
25. Orphans - Tom Waits

If we're talking about songwriting, I think Harry Chapin, Bruce Springsteen and Paul O'Neill are some of the best.

I’ll try and create a list of my top 10 albums. There are a few bands that have a couple of albums that I really like. I also like an album which is a compilation of cover songs and another that is a remix of original songs, too.
