The difference is that this particular film does tonally come off as glamorizing the Ted Bundy murders. Same as (while fictional) Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds essentially glamorizes WWII and the Nazis. Or even most Hollywood biopics that 'fluff' up the historical accuracy for entertainment purposes, coming off as exploitive.

United 93 was a very serious, dark, and mature drama with a bit of thriller elements mixed in, but no means glamorized the tragedy.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is taking Ted Bundy and giving him celebrity status treatment making him out to be this glorified pop-culture serial killer icon. It's making him appealing and attractive to either toxic masculine males who assert dominance over women and adolescent teenage girls because of the Zac Efron imagery. The film takes grisly material and sugarcoats the subject, playing up the fantastical idea of his murders.

That's the difference.

That's how Ted Bundy was. Heck the 2002 Ted Bundy movie basically plays up on the humor/funny side as well. The cinematography of this movie seems to elevate Ted's view on the world, IMO. If anything we'd be arguing about the glamorization of the cinematography of Ted Bundy's glamorization of killing. Now try saying THAT 5 times faster!
