Bourne will be a decent spike for them but wait!

Spielberg's supposed to come out and save the format with all of his movies this Christmas and wait!

Cheap Chinese players are supposed to come along with that wave and "rock BD's foundation" like the Matrix Trilogy did!

Not a bad week for HD-DVD, however, I don't think it gets much better. The results kind of mirror my expectations for the 300 split. There are a good amount of dual owners who probably went with the more feature laden HD-DVD of 300 over the Blu-ray. From here on out, I don't see HD-DVD anticipating many/any titles that will surpass Blu-ray in features.

I've updated the original post with the latest data. I agreef with your assesment here. HD DVD's track record is about shooting its wad the first week and then not being able to sustain fairly consistent sales. I look for BD numbers to improve significantly over the next few weeks.

C'mon Fox, whadya say about releasing come September, hmmm?

That'd be nice. Trickle out some goodies to warm up to the Christmas blow out. Show some sign of life to confirm to everyone that yes, you're not gone for the rest of 07 like some of the FUD-sters are trying to spread.

Even ONE title would give notice.

Did they actually stop making discs as of Night at the Museum?

Good question, not sure, but I think so. I do agree with you and JTK though. Just release something so I don't have to see one more "Where is Fox" thread.

/me said (perhaps on the other forum) that the equilibrium ratio is around 65:35.

/me also said that 300 would give us a good indication of the equilibrium ratio.

... and 300 has a 65:35 ratio....

Man I still can't get on the site. It's so bogged down right now. I'll have to try again later I guess.

When they say 300 BD- 100 and 300 HD DVD- 52.34 they mean that for every 100 copies of 300 on Blu-Ray sold, 52.34 copies of 300 on HD DVD sell right?

Wow, there went the HD DVD legs.
I don't think that's quite right. On the overall top 10 '300' sold 152.34 discs to PE's (Blu-ray) 1.97.

On the aggregate chart '300' combined is re-weighted to 100 discs. The adjusted PE (Blu-ray) would be 1.3 discs meaning the HD DVD version accounts for 0.96 discs.

You're right, good catch.

So, it's 1.3 to 0.96.

Didn't like a lot of people get 0.34 of a working 300 on HD DVD?

Well, Ratatouille gets in line. Once again, Disney steps up and gives us what we want.

Fox is showing a lot of disrespect right now.

And 300 continuing to sell well on BD, while it slides on HD DVD (no legs). Also TMMT is whooping HD DVD ass right now on Amazon (#96 v. #354)

The surprise is Heroes. It's #229, which seems awfully poor this close to release. Blade Runner is a head of it.

Gary

well, the great thing about this week was b/c of warners 250k announcement we were able to derive the sales of all top 10 movies. what do you guys think, even though the ratio wasn't the greatest ever, id go out on a limb and say that this week BD outsold HD DVD in total discs sold by the most ever. and total discs sold is what retailers really look at, not ratios.

Wow, good point. This was 62:38 of a BIG number. Not 70:30 of a small one.

Retailers probably noticed the difference.

The reason 300 did those numbers for hd-dvd is because almost all the disc where return because they crap out in chapter 14 it seems....so they maybe couting 2 or 3 disc per hd-dvd ownner....I read some of the guys over avs forum are returning them and getting refunds so that shouldnt count...What do you think.....

It might have something to do with the numbers but not too much. HD-DVD had a good week with Hott Fuzz and 300 but after this, there will be nothing until besides maybe Heroes (but that is expensive) and Bourne (but they might be gone by then.) Just look at our future releases. Cars, Wild Hogs, Vacancy, and many more. Blu has won, it is just a matter of time (universal)
