That's the official line that you guys have decided to use now, that this was some sort of "lost film"?
If you were upfront about what you were releasing from the start, people would understand. Instead, once again, the people who buy your product are the bad guys and you're the good guys because Bill is sick and/or dying and Jim Sotos is sick and/or dying. Give us a break. ![]() |

Indeed they did. I knew I had seen it announced that way somewhere: False advertising just a little? ![]() I mean seriously, you literally have to wait on reviews now when you can't even trust what they say it will be. That's what I'll be doing from now on...it's just not even worth it otherwise at these premium prices. |

It's the original film / directors cut. Forced Entry was a rerelease like 10 years later with more sexual violence inserted for marketing purposes, earning it an R rating.

Actually, having watched both cuts back-to-back, I would've said THE LAST VICTIM cut was superior, too. Because the difference was almost negligible between the two (a lot of the scenes are in a different order).
But that's before knowing that a lot of the harder violence seems to be missing from Dark Force's FORCED ENTRY cut. Now I'd really like to see the 88 minute FORCED ENTRY before making that decision. Also, Ruined has no idea what he's talking about. THE LAST VICTIM has jarring inserts, too. |

It's actually pretty easy to find the full 88 minute version to watch online. ![]() |

The way I see it, THE LAST VICTIM is the selling point of the disc.
Considering their version of FORCED ENTRY really isn't FORCED ENTRY since it is missing so much stuff, maybe they should have left it off completely, or just put a SD version of the complete film on the disc as an extra. At least that way you could watch the entire film. As far as DF saying THE LAST VICTIM was to be 88 minutes, he probably just got that mixed up with FORCED ENTRY's established running time and he said that before he had the materials at hand. Of course, he could have made a public correction statement later. I tried to find a running time listed for THE LAST VICTIM in old genre magazines of the time, but couldn't find anything. Even in the 70+ minute range, it's most likely the uncut version of that version, so at least we have that. I'm thrilled to be able to see that one. I still wish FORCED ENTRY was complete and in SD as an extra rather than a butchered HD hybrid that probably no one will watch now. Having a complete film, even in SD, pretty much wins over a severely butchered HD print every time. |

However, in cases like "The Last Victim" (and "The Carrier," "SWOAN") you have the director providing what they consider their best version of the film according to the director themselves (which is not the extended cut of Last Victim). ...And then people crap on the release, in this case because of a shorter runtime with the directors cut of Last Victim, in the case of the Carrier because some DNR was used to clean up the directors only surviving badly damaged print of the DC and the theatrical was broken, or SWOAN that the theatrical version was not color corrected. I fully understand complaining because you feel you didn't get what was advertised. But if you take it a step further and look at the release as a whole, you are literally getting the best version of the film on the disc that exists, never available in good quality before, according to the person that made the film - and the release is being rejected as a whole for whatever the reason of the day is; that is where complaints can start to veer into "bad guy" territory IMO. Bottom line, LAST VICTIM was the original film and directors vision according to the director himself, FORCED ENTRY was a cash grab nearly 10 years later with more sexual violence randomly edited in. IMO for a film fan, for these reasons the director's preferred LAST VICTIM cut is therefore true gem - not Forced Entry. If you only had to pick one not sure why anyone would want the longer cash grab version. So as a whole this should remain a very desirable release for all. |

What I said was factually accurate, I apologize if it counters the outrage of the day. Forced Entry was a cash-in re-release due to new fame of the actresses in The Last Victim ~10yr later, padded out with more violence edited in and other nonsense. Look it up.
The Last Victim on this Blu-ray is from the OCN of the original film and what the director himself here provided as his ideal version. Again, I do understand that some people are upset DF advertised an 88min cut and this cut is not on the disc - but again in the big picture of things, we got the director's preferred cut of an obscure film (the shorter cut being the one you admitted is superior yourself) and this is really the most important takeaway. |
