I think they are making sure they work with the new 80gig PS3's which do NOT have the Emotion Engine and are backwards compatible via software emulation only, just like the XBOX 360. I personally don't agree with Sony's decision to use software emulation but it makes sense financially. Rest assured, all the games that were in the store should have the software emulation built into each game shortly. Keep an eye on the download size, you should notice a difference.

All PS1 games use software emulation. The Emotion Engine is for PS2 games. So the PS1 emulation is the same across all models, Emotion Engine or not.
