I feel like I should either like the ones directed by James Cameron more or I should like the ones not directed by him more. Is this unpopular?
I don't know if it's unpopular, but I agree with the Alien opinion. As to T2, I haven't seen either in a long, long time.

I love Last Action Hero! It combines over the top action and spoofs movies with Schwarzenegger, it’s like it was Taylor made for me!

I loved Titan A.E. As a kid, but havents watched it since! Need to rewatch it!

Star Trek Generations is actually my favorite Star Trek film. Last Action Hero and Titan A.E. are fun.

I much prefer Mars Attacks! to ID4. Not a fair comparison, really, but both are alien invasion flicks which came out in 1996...

I almost never see Disney films. Pretty much the only I've seen in decades is Frozen (though almost everyone tells me to see Tangled), so maybe I'm way off here. But I thought Brave was at least reasonably popular. No?

Pete's Dragon 2016 is a better film than the 77 original, and I don't think that's an unpopular opinion.

why wouldn't you? It's a pretty awesome movie and far exceeds the bigger alien invasion flick that came out the same year

Yes, reasonably popular. It’s not universally beloved or anything but most people like it. I’m not a big fan of it, but I don’t hate it or anything.

Funny that Last Action Hero (1993) was mentioned, I actually watched it this weekend for the first time, but it was quite horrible. At least Arnold's other bad films like Jingle All the Way (1996) and Kindergarten Cop (1990) are so bad that you can at least laugh a little because of him.

I thought the problem weighing down LAST ACTION HERO was the casting of the kid and not trimming a bit of fat off act 1, but mainly the kid, who was more O-T-T obnoxious than any of the action excesses, which I did find mostly very funny. And casting a couple of the same b.g. baddies that showed up in all the other Joel Silver pics, from ACTION JACKSON to DIE HARD, was a pleasant bonus. Also I think that was the last film where Arnold's temporarily-improved diction showed, which helped things along.

On the subject of Silver (whose office gave me the nicest and most positive turndown I've ever received for a script -- my first theatrical spec -- and the only one I've ever kept) ... although I was a ferociously devoted fan of most Silver pics (even saw HUDSON HAWK twice), I had never seen ROAD HOUSE till this last weekend. I was very surprised by how Chuck Norriss/MissingInAction the whole thing felt. By that I mean the goodies suffer and suffer and suffer and suffer some more, and only in the last reel is there any kind of payback, and that doesn't make up for the suffering. If ROBOCOP had featured an hour of Murphy being executed, it would not have made it to the good stuff, and I am always flabbergasted when an intended to be popular film front- and mid-loads itself with justification for payback. (Clearly I am not and never was a candidate for seeing PASSION OF THE CHRIST, which sounds like I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE in terms of violence, at least as how it has been described to me.)

If the Norris analogy is not a good one, then I apologize, but I only got a short ways into the one MISSING IN ACTION I tried watching, abandoning specifically because it was just bad thing after bad thing happening. The only Norris pics I like are CODE OF SILENCE and the ever-cheesey DELTA FORCE, and the latter has way too much suffering up front, but at least the last half is a blast, with that crazy syncopated score thumping away. And I've seen LONE WOLF MCQUADE a few times, but it is tough going because it sounds like Lalo Schifrin just ripped off Ennio Morricone all the way through (sort of like how he does on BLACK MOON RISING with what sounds like direct lifts from BLUE THUNDER. You'd think he had been possessed by James Horner or something (which might be possible, since he has a couple of lifts from Horner in SUDDEN IMPACT, though not enough to piss on the wedding cake.)
