Perfect timing. I just started my franchise marathon tonight with Part 1 currently playing. I'm hoping to punch through all 8 films before Monday rolls around but I've got a potentially busy weekend planned so we'll see how well I do.

Thank you for the heads up on this! I placed an order shortly before midnight last night and it's expected Saturday afternoon, just in time to marathon them all weekend.

Cross posting my comments from the Recommend an Indie Horror movie thread here...
Unconventional Recommendation tonight but.... ![]() This movie was awesome. I'm honestly a bit at a loss of words in regards to how much fun I had with this film. After marathoning all 7 films over the last 3 days I finished up tonight with my first ever viewing of Leprechaun Returns and despite coming in with fairly neutral expectations I am soooooo happy to state that not only was this film wonderful, but that I hope that a sequel is fast tracked right away for next year. The early moments of the film take a bit to get things going, but once the Leprechaun has returned things continue to pick up pace all the way until the credits roll. I jokingly stated that I hoped the next Vestron release would be for this film the other day in the Vestron thread, after now having watched the film I can honestly say that I wouldn't be all that upset if that came true. This is a film that is just screaming for a fully loaded Blu Ray release. I'd love to see Red Shirt pictures provide another documentary on the film as they did for the other entries in the franchise. This film amazingly managed to not only restore a bit of continuity to a series that basically never had any, but also managed to swap out the lead actor in Warwick Davis, return the franchise to it's more horror based roots, and yet still manage to provide one liner after one liner in a way that balanced the horror/comedy to near perfection. I don't remember the last time I actually laughed out loud as many times as I did during this film. Linden Porco as our titular new villain manages to capture everything that made the Warwick Davis portrayal of the character so great and breathes fresh life into it. Beyond the Leprechaun himself however this is a very enjoyable cast filled with cliched yet enjoyable characters that believe it or not actually look like real people and are the actual ages of the people they are playing. Everyone plays their roles well and are at times very reminiscent of the casts seen during 80's staples like the Friday the 13th series among others. Special effects are used to great effect and are a plenty. I'm happy to say that a great majority of them are also practical and that plenty of red (and green) blood and guts are spilled throughout the film to great effect. Now these things aside there is at least one nagging criticism that is sure to come up and it relates to that of the character of Ozzie. His role is... unusual... and a strays from what has otherwise been seen in the franchise. It's not bad by any means, but is odd given it's so different from what we've seen in the other 7 films. I'm honestly at a loss as to how people couldn't/wouldn't like this movie. If you like any of the Leprechaun movies I feel like by default you'll love this one. This film easily could/should kick start this franchise and in probably one of the most shocking things you'll read from me... this film did a better job at the sequel reboot idea than Halloween 2018 did... yeah, it's that good. [Show spoiler] Where as Halloween 2018 gave us a back to basics sequel that restored the franchise but was too scared to do anything different or original, Leprechaun Returns returns this franchise to it's horror origins while also taking it in new and exciting places. Visually it has the highest production values of any of the films short of maybe the original. It looks sharp as a tack and sounds fantastic making good use of all the speakers in ones set up. It's not scary, it's incredibly campy, but it is arguably one of the best times I've had watching a movie this year. If you like the Leprechaun films this one will leave you smiling. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Last edited by TripleHBK; 03-17-2019 at 08:03 PM. |

I'm hoping that in the following weeks we'll have an announcement. With the film getting its broadcast premier today on SyFy channel I'm hoping that the reason we haven't had a Blu Ray Announcement yet is/was due to them not wanting to take away from that airing.

I saw a double feature of the first two movies last night at the theater! It was a blast, since I hadn't seen either film since I was a kid in the 90's!

The new Leprechaun actor was weak in his delivery of the lines compared to the way Warwick Davis would say things. Other than that it was a cheesy good time that never took itself seriously. I would definitely add it to my Leprechaun Collection & trade it out with Origins.

Well that was really good! I mean, it's a Leprechaun movie, not Scorsese, but it's a lot of fun. It's got good, gory kills. It's funny w/o being irritating or overbearing. And it was nice seeing Ozzie again. Four clover leaves!

I rented the first Leprechaun on iTunes last night and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I was surprised to see there's no stand-alone blu-ray for it here in the US. I wanted to watch the other films in the series as well, so I just ordered this complete movie collection (found it for $16 on Amazon!). I'll check out the others this week after I get it.
Man....that 22-year-old Jennifer Anniston, though. ![]() |

I enjoyed Returns for what it is but I wish they would make a real serious version and good enough to go to theaters. The first one was great but it turned into more of a comedy as it went on. Give me a serious Leprechaun movie with a little humor and change the face make up and that will be fine.
