Old republic has always referred to 10k years before the phantom menace. If they stick to that now, there won't be any of that on entice tissue. Which would be a good thing in my opinion.

Rian Johnson Will Direct First Film In Game Of Thrones’ Showrunners’ Trilogy

Today, Lucasfilm announced none other than Rian Johnson will direct the first film in the Old Republic trilogy. Originally, Johnson was thought to be developing his own Star Wars series, but it appears they were always one and the same. The studio expressed excitement regarding the development in a press release:

Rian Johnson, who wrote and directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is returning to launch an all-new era for the franchise by helming the first installment in David Benioff & D.B. Weiss' Old Republic trilogy. The film will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Johnson's longtime producing partner Ram Bergman.

"Rian exceeded our expectations with The Last Jedi, and I'm thrilled he's returning as we begin the next Star Wars story," said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

More information about the Old Republic trilogy will come shortly.

So apparently George Lucas has sat down & talked with Benioff/Weiss about their trilogy of films.

Article doesn't really have anything else worthwhile beyond Liam Cunningham on their films.

Ser Davos Seaworth actor Liam Cunningham gave a bit more away, all while
having a dig at Disney's Star Wars films. He said: "It's funny because George came here and talked to the boys, and the one thing the Star Wars franchise has been missing lately is decent storytelling.

"There's a lot of brilliant stuff in Star Wars, it's an epic franchise, but occasionally, story-wise, it's left a little to be desired.

"Dan and David are brilliant at surprises and can transfer the demographic from this show to that. They're incredible at adapting a world and making it their own and they could add a layer of complexity to it.
