And just FYI, The Lost Boys connection is intentional.

[Show spoiler]

I’m assuming The Lost Boys.

The Lost Boys, yeah! We shot in Santa Cruz and the first scene of our movie is there.

Oh, it’s the same beach?

It’s the same beach, it’s the same amusement park. And it’s even 1986.

The Lost Boys came out in 1987, right?

But there is a reference to The Lost Boys shooting by the carousel. They’re walking down the Santa Monica boardwalk and the mother says, “You know they’re shooting a movie over there by the carousel.”

I follow some horror forums and this film seems to have disappointed many. Critic reviews are almost all positive, but horror people are saying the twist is predictable and that the horror vibe is constantly broken up with comedy.

Like Get Out, it's not a traditional horror movie with jump-scares and gory violence. It's in the subtext.

parts can be predictable if you pay close attention to the clues and references that are given throughout the movie (much like get out) but it's all in the execution to me... it does leave a lot of unanswered questions which I can see disappointing some people but maybe that was intended and maybe he has a sequel in mind, who knows... it got my brain thinking though and I thoroughly enjoyed it... as far as the comedy breaking up the horror I couldn't disagree more

I loved Get Out.

It was fairly predictable but the execution was dynamite and so was the premise.

Just pre-ordered the steelbook. Been chatting with some other friends who also saw this over the weekend and I can't wait to rewatch it. I get why it's so divisive but I think it will be even better on second viewing.

The Dolby Vision God’s have heard me!

That’s already 2 Blumhouse Productions with DV.

And it looked wonderful in Dolby Cinema so I’m glad Universal came to their senses with this one.

Even though we've been getting some bad ones lately, steelbooks like these always remind me why I collect them

Just watched it. I must say, Jordan Peele is fast becoming one of my favorite modern directors. Not just in horror, but film generally. I love how he just unashamedly goes for it.

[Show spoiler]That being said, come on. I saw that "twist" coming a mile away lol.
