If the tech doesn't account for the 65% of people with some kind of vision problem and need for corrective lenses, then there is definitely no way that it would replace regular TVs since that would be WAY too many people not being accounted for. If they do properly account for people with vision problems, and if the tech matures to the point that what you are seeing and experiencing through these glasses when watching a movie or TV show is at least roughly as good if not better than a high end TV or projector, and with the option of making the "screen" as big as you want, then it doesn't sound like there is much wrong with the technology and there would be nothing to get upset about. Even in that second scenario, I still highly doubt that these glasses would completely replace actual physical television sets, eliminating them from the market. But even if I'm wrong, the issues that you are concerned about would be addressed. So, what exactly is there for you to get all worked up about? Do you enjoy just panicking the hell out of yourself with every little thing you read about potential new technology, without even fully thinking it through to it's logical conclusion? Yes the need for multiple TVs in a home is down and will continue to go down with all the devices we now have. However, there will continue to be a need for at least one main TV in a home for people to watch a show/news/movie/game together. I don't see that changing for a long time.

I myself have astigmatism. It could well end up being severe in years to come. Definite cause for concern there. You have the misconception that I flick through articles then run on here. I don’t, with AR alone I have probably spent a good two months reading about this stuff. Everything from patents to progress reports etc.. |

Regardless of whether you read one article or dozens of them, you keep getting worked up and convincing yourself that almost any piece of new technology means the absolute certain death for regular televisions. There is absolutely no reason to believe that at this point, and there likely will never be. And regardless of that, seeing as to how Apple and similar companies are in the business of making money, they are going to want to make their product as accessible to the masses as they can. For issues like yours, the solution could simply be something similar to the sun glass lens attachments to Dwayne Wayne's glasses from "A Different World"... ![]() They could make options that would attach to your glasses in a similar manner, allowing the AR lenses to be placed in front of your corrective lenses. That way you can get new corrective lenses each year without having to rebuy the "fancy" AR lenses. This would avoid the cost issue of having to replace to AR lenses regularly, and would not have problems akin to those when trying to wear 3D glasses over regular glasses. Regardless of how this pans out, you just stress yourself out over next to nothing, go on and on and on about it here, make yourself look paranoid, and then wonder why you get sarcastic and sometimes insulting responses. That is like jumping into a swimming pool and being angry and baffled as to why you get wet every single time. You need to calm the **** down. |

The fact that my eyes (and many others) might rule me out of this tech is of course cause for concern. |

You are a lost cause.
![]() If you are going to keep panicking about every stupid little thing, can you spare the rest of us the headache of having to read about it? It's just getting annoying and exhausting. You also may want to go see a doctor about getting some anti-anxiety medication. |

And I'm not talking about their future plans or road maps. I'm asking about these glasses that are rumored to be going into production later this year. I want to know what they can do and so far as I can tell, nobody actually knows. |

What can the actual glasses that Apple is talking about releasing next year actually do? You say that by all accounts people will be able to watch HD video through their new iGlasses. I don't see anybody else saying that. Magic Leap is a $2000 headset, isn't it? |

As for that Simpsons "Stark Raving Dad" it was banned and pulled from circulation for both Digital and Disc, because of the Michael Jackson problems. This means that the Distribution for both Digital and Disc has stopped, but if you have it in your Digital Collection you still have access to it just like your Disc. How exactly did the rest of world come to conclusion that these glasses were going to be capable of beaming HD video into our eyeballs? Headsets aren't glasses and as far as I can tell it's a stretch to say that these headsets are capable of displaying HD video in the sense that one could watch a movie in HD quality on them. So if the headsets can't even do it yet what you think a pair of glasses nobody has even seen yet will be able to do it? |
