Rottweiler was a hoot. An odd, over-the-top, B-horror film whose "monsters" are a pack of Rottweiler's who have supposedly been trained to be "weapons" by the military. The audience members who left the theater after Metalstorm missed out on IMO the best 3-D film on the double-header. Even though the Rottweiler audience was smaller, they were enjoying this film far more than Metalstorm. Laughing, shouting, and genuinely enjoying Rottweiler's unique combination of horror, absurdity, and tongue-in-cheek humor. The oddly placed replacement title "Dogs of Hell", the "one done" moment, shots of dogs that were supposed to be scary, but weren't, but that didn't stop the sound editor from inserting obvious fake growls to make them look scary. The popouts were fantastic. Darts, Fists, Gun Barrels, Gun Shots, Batons, etc. A very entertaining film that was obviously made on a cheaper budget than Metalstorm, but ended up entertaining the audience far more.

I hope to see more Earl Owensby 3-D productions. Hopefully on 3-D blu-ray.

PS

Lenny Lipton and John Rupkalvis gave an introduction before Rottweiler, but I could hardly hear what they said, so I can't really give any insights.
Damn, I'm jealous. Dogs of Hell in 3d!! I wish someone would make a 3d Blu Ray.

I did reach out to the alleged owner of Electra One a few years ago offering to initiate a restoration from the 65mm elements.

They never replied...

Agree! Dogs of Hell was lots of fun! Someone with more understanding of these things than me know why there was in a few shots what looked like a white line at the bottom of the screen? If I closed my eye it was only present in the right eye, so when looking through both eyes it a hazy white. Hopefully that makes sense what I'm describing

Yep, that happened quite a bit. Usually it was on the right eye side. There were also some masking errors, with one side leaking through at the top or bottom. The print they used wasn't perfect, but considering how rare the film is, I'll take it anyway I can get it.

All of that should have been masked in projection.

Very sloppy work by the booth team.

I can't speak for the current operators, but if I was still back there at the Egyptian booth, I would have moved heaven and earth to make sure the masking-framing were as correct as possible. I know Ben worked tirelessly for HOURS making sure the set up was the best it could be. You can only do so much with materials that are less than ideal. We have given Bob F. and others many great 3D presentations at the Egyptian over the years and he knows that. I only wish I was still there because I know I missed out on some great 3D fun.

As Kino are putting out the first 3 Emmanuelle films and are the leaders in Golden/Silver Age titles (11)..hoping Emmanuelle IV will be a possibility...

Sadly, no. It's owned by a different company.

Does bob or anyone else know if it is ever going to be a possibility for some of these silver age films to get 3D Blu-ray releases?
I remember back when exhumed had their first 3D fest they said that they were going to release a 1980’s 3D film and that they are talking to the people so that they could possibly release some of the Owensby worth keeter films. That was a while ago and we haven’t heard nary a peep.

Do we think that was all just wishful thinking or can we hope that something is still brewing? I know exhumed had their hands full with their Milligan releases. I wonder if those caused the other titles to all be on the back burner?

I had a ten minute reel of that film in 3-D and gave it to Dan Symmes about 20 years ago. He had worked on it and that seemed like the right thing to do.

Sadly, it went missing after he died suddenly and his ex-wife held basically a yard sale quickly liquidating his 50 year collection of 3-D history and memorabilia.

It has never resurfaced...

From the the other site (Ronald Epstein's quite fine Home Theater Forum)..
Vinegar Syndrome were asked on Facebook on a March 11th post, what are the chances of tackling a 3D project and responded.. without giving anything away, odds are good!

Hopefully the odds are good that the project won't include a pair of red and cyan glasses

Straight from the horse's mouth. LINK

Since it's Kino, there is a likelihood that the 3DFA will be involved.

Even if the film is poor I'm super excited to see an 80s 3-D flick get an actual restoration for once! Amityville, Jaws, and Metalstorm can be fun but they can also be pretty eye-gouging.

It seems this is the "futuristic" title to which Bob was elliptically referring a few weeks back. Some had guessed (apparently correctly) that it was Parasite due to the Kino-Canal deal. (I had speculated, foolishly in retrospect, that Bob had finally persuaded a certain recluse to finally loosen his grip on two cheesy '50s sci-fi titles....)

Just in time for Halloween; look what's coming to 3-D Blu-ray this October from KL Studio Classics and restored by 3-D Film Archive!
