Sounds like a great time to sell off my digibook!
Never bothered to upgrade to 4K for this title, kinda have to now!

I definitely prefer the first movie but the second movie is an underrated gem.

The courtroom scene.

'Short, but pointless...'

Haha! Classic

The Fort Detmerring scene has felt like some long lost legend for decades. Reading excerpts of its script pages and seeing photos already sort of let you know the pace would have been destroyed if it were left in. However, I can't wait to finally see this scene.

I used to watch the original 10 deleted scenes from the "Scene Cemetery" nonstop when the first DVD came out. I just couldn't believe that there was more footage from what might be the greatest movie of all time, and now we are getting MORE?!?! Good golly miss molly...I can barely contain my excitement.

I just slimed my pants.

To steal a line from a recent Sky_Captain post, Peter MacNicol shoplifts GBII right out from under the noses of the rest of them.

"Slides are awailable in the gift shop, eh? AAAGHGH"

(That's even making me lol as I type )

I really am as happy as anyone that we're finally seeing it but I can't help but feel that, as legendary as that stuff is, it's not going to be some earth-shattering revelatory footage that puts the film in a whole new light, you know?

I read that but I don't care, I'll be the judge of that myself.

Never heard of the Fort Detmerring scene but I'm down this. Shame no OG audio on the UHD though.

Now I just gotta figure how to sell my old UHDs. I sorta put the 2 films in stacker Viva Elite for myself....oops.

Damn it...

I definitely want to get it for the new deleted scenes, but I already have the individual 4K releases, and that is in addition to an absurd number of previous DVD and Blu-Ray releases.

Odds are the new extras will be on the regular Blu-Ray disc of GB1. It would be nice if they do an individual regular Blu-Ray release of just that disc so I can get it without spending more than necessary.

But I'll likely pick this up because I am a consumer *****.

I just noticed that GBII has new features as well. That makes this a little easier to justify. Though it would be nice if there was a Blu-Ray only option since I have the 4K discs already.

Be thankful Sony took the effort to create a new Blu-ray disc for the films. We got screwed on Hook and The Quick and the Dead with exclusive features only on the 4K disc.

Oh no I totally agree with you. I’m prepared to be a bit disappointed by the scene haha but I just can’t believe we can finally lay our eyes upon it! Nothing will ever change my view of the original film. No need to add footage to it...it’s perfect as is, but I am 100% all for seeing as much shot footage as possible no matter how mundane it might be.

Even if GB3 sucks, parts 1 and 2 will still be there to lift me up when I need it.

Wow, I don't already own these. I remember that the covers put me off, so I planned to order the UK editions, and I guess I never did!

I think these two and The Bridge on the River Kwai are the only "important" (read: decent catalogue) Sony UHD Blu-rays I don't own yet.

Happy days!

FINALLY! Excellent packaging and artwork at last! Perfect perfect perfect. I'm beyond thrilled. I've loved these movies since I was a child.

Good grief, I can't believe how happy this announcement has made me.

Tis true. I even prefer M:I-2 over all the other Mission Impossible movies. I'm weird that way.

So is this now the second time a 4k UHD has been reissued, after The Martian?

I updated the original post to include the infromation about the fan restored pitch pilot for The Real Ghostbusters. It's quite the fascinating story how it came about and I highly suggest, if interested, to look up Robert Barbieri to see what he had to do to get it done!

It exists online, quick link here: https://ghostbustersnews.com/2018/06...l-pitch-pilot/

And I follow his Facebook group, which had detailed the whole process: https://www.facebook.com/groups/321449535024691/

Sounds bad, but if the fan really knows their stuff and is well spoken it could work. Usually the worst commentaries are the ones where they bring in cast members that barely remember the film and only seem to say shit like "Oh, he was a nice guy"
