Is this the rumored director's cut? If so, I would be very interested to check it out. The middle section of the film really breezed through the
[Show spoiler]problems in the relationship
so I hope a longer cut would remedy that glaring issue.

Yes, 12 minutes more.

And this is why I held off buying the first release.

Better be a UHD.

AFAIK, it’s not technically a director’s cut since Bradley hasn’t said so. Also, it mainly adds a few more songs and extends a few other numbers. I don’t think there’s any scenes other than that.

And this is why I waited. Hopefully it has both cuts and all extras so I don't have to buy both releases.

Is this why the original UHD went down to $19.99 so soon after release?

Like everyone else here, this was the edition I was waiting for. I saw the Encore Edition in theaters and loved it. "Is That Alright?" was an absolute mistake to cut out, and while the other bits were just fat, I thought they helped resolved some of the choppiness of the same scenes in the theatrical cut. So many of the changes are subtle enough (literally an extra line here or an alternate delivery there) that I have a hard time believing they went back and tinkered with the theatrical cut to insert them. I think this was the director's cut before they decided to make some more trims to Cooper's satisfaction, and they probably knew there might be a built-in audience for this version so they saved the master before proceeding with editing.

Hopefully there's a UHD (a few select Dolby Cinemas screened this, so there should be a 4K master ready with HDR) but if not, this will be a case where I take content over presentation (I've certainly done it before with DVD extended cuts that still haven't made it to Blu).

Exactly! I never saw the original theatrical version so the Encore edit was my introduction to the film. When I subsequently read that the wedding reception scene with "Is That Alright?" wasn't originally featured, my jaw dropped, because that was my favorite song, and the most moving sequence, in the entire film for me. I have zero interest in ever seeing the theatrical cut now (which makes it problematic that I have sealed copies of both the Target Exclusive BD and the Best Buy exclusive 4K Steelbook at my home, LOL!); I fervently hope the Encore cut is made available on 4K UHD, but if it ends up being BD only, that will have to suffice. The extra resolution and WCG enhancements of a UHD disc won't ameliorate losing some of the film's best material.

I haven't seen Encore yet so I'm hoping there's a 4K with both cuts. But I'd be surprised if Encore supplants the theatrical cut for me.

I haven't seen any Star is Born aside from the 1954 film, but I hope this cut doesn't make
[Show spoiler]Jackson Maine's suicide
more graphic than in the theatrical cut.

It doesn't, although that scene wasn't graphic in the theatrical cut either. It implied a lot more than it showed.

No. That's just a Warner trend. They drop quickly in prices.

I'm glad this has finally been confirmed. I've been looking forward to it, having missed the Encore Edition in theaters.

If I had known about this, I'd have probably waited lol I don't pay attention to theatrical releases or special versions in theaters though
