Blu-ray Prince

Center channel volume and midrange and treble settings across your soundfield are the usual culprits (assuming you're running at least a 5.1 setup). Factory default settings are sonic mud. Have to go channel by channel for the space. Don't think about it in terms of volume, think about how the sonics are working in your space. Play to the room. Yeah, you'll have to get your hands dirty, and it's going to take time and and days of tweaking. Once you get it right, though, for your own ears, that time pays off gloriously.
