Default Digital vs bluray

Is there any websites that review the digital version with the blurays? I know some versions (like se7en) in digital are considered better ( se7en itunes is considered more true to original coloring by some).

I dont see alot of review comparisons?

Outside of when different versions of the films are released digitally I can't say I really see the point in reviewing digital editions of films so long as there is a Blu Ray equivalent available. The Digital version will always be the inferior edition of the film unless it happens to be an uncut version and the Blu ray was cut (Jason Goes to Hell).

I feel like your best bet is going to be just asking in each films respective thread if folks are aware of any differences, or by going to the Digital sub forum and starting a comparison thread there for folks to discuss digital editions of films.

BD and UHD almost always beat digital. With that said it's rather simple to make digital copies using a BD without losing any PQ or AQ. Let me know if you want to know how.

I can understand why someone would want a comparison though, because for one it can be a major pain in the ass for someone to do as you suggest and search through forum threads (especially since threads often become massively off topic). It's not that big of a thing to add onto review sites something like "The digital edition of Toy Story 2 removes the Stinky Pete joke at the end with the Barbies." or something like that.

I do prefer physical to digital whenever possible, especially because of studios being able to do something like editing the above example, but I can see where having access to reviews might help someone if they use both for convenience or something. Or even watching them on Netflix/Hulu/whatever.

I think there was a comparison for Skyfall that compared iTunes, Vudu, and Blu-ray on avsforum years ago. I would find such comparisons interesting since most UHD discs are HDR10 while the streaming versions are often DV. There are also differences in the quality of the different services, so this isn't entirely a bad idea.

Review sites are probably hesitant to review digital editions because there would be no way to know when or if a studio replaces one digital edition with another that looks completely different or has a different audio mix. The best they could do is say “review is of a digital edition that was seen on such-and-such date”, and then readers would of course have no idea if that review was still current when they check it out months lope years later.
