Filmstruck used to show you a film's expiration date (if any), but it appears only on the desktop website and none of the other apps. Netflix is the same way too: exp date on desktop website and nowhere else.

Do those Olympic films have expiration dates? I haven't signed up yet. I wonder if only members can see full detail. |

So far I've watched two movies on my PC using my web browser, but this morning I've tried starting up several different movies and I keep getting an error message that says "Sorry, this video cannot be played while your device is connected to this external monitor." This has been a big letdown. It's bad enough that the app isn't available on anything I have connected to my TV, and now I can't even use it on my PC.

Try Edge or Safari - those should work. |

I know this is my third post here, but I must say I am loving this service so far. The Columbia noir selection has been top-notch. I keep finding more and more here I want to watch.
Besides a few streaming quality dips, I’ve had a pretty flawless experience *knock on wood*. I think if you get the subscription thru the browser, you won’t be billed through apple or play store. I am a charter member, so I set up my membership thru the browser, and all I had to do to log in was go through the “activate” page on the browser to link my TV app. |

I've tried to stream from the app through my iphone connected to my samsung tv (converter to an hdmi cable). On the the TV screen I can see my phone display and the app but during playback I get no video, just audio. Watching itunes and other streaming apps this way works fine. Any suggestions?

I opened their website up today and saw that they had added an All Films section where you can filter by Genre, Decades, Countries and Directors. I hadn't noticed this before so apologies if it has been mentioned. This is on the main site not the Roku app that I typically use.
I will say that search based on performer is not entirely accurate in their main search section. I searched for 'Michel Piccoli' and, although he is a main supporting player in Belle de jour and that title is on the site, it does not come up when you search for him. Not a big deal but hopefully something they can look into in future updates. |

I will say the streaming quality is much higher than filmstruck. I'm watching one now and a looks damn near disc quality.
Fs would sometimes have like green macroblocking on the black bar beneath the image and never properly saved your spot when resuming playback |

Honestly I've gotta say, I'm actually pretty blown away at the level of streaming quality. It is comparable to a blu-ray. I was just watching Purple Noon and for streaming, I thought it handled the grain mostly quite well. There are times where there were hiccups, but I have a pretty fast connection so I'm very pleased at the quality overall. So much so that I am likely selling some of my discs.
And in terms of the special features not coming up on the Roku app, I found that by adding titles to my list via the desktop channel, you get all the features that come along with it. Just make sure you're selecting the collection of videos, next to where the description is. That way, you're not adding just the title itself, but rather the entire Criterion collection edition of that title. So, while the extras don't come up when you select a movie on the Roku app, if you save them via desktop and then select "My List" under Library, you get all the extras without having to search for them manually. ~Matt |

I also watched Purple Noon the other night and oddly an Error came up in the final minute of the film saying title could not be played but the film kept playing behind the error information. I stopped the film and restarted from the beginning, fast forwarded and the same error popped up in the same exact spot. I've only watched two titles so far and that was the first one to have the error for me. |

I was just going to comment on this. The update is working great for me, I was happy to see it as I'm someone who always watches the extras. I'm very pleased overall with how quickly both Criterion and Roku have been making user friendly changes.
