I can't wait for this, I'm starting to get really impatient/ancy now.

. I was in the mood for some LOTR the other night and so put Fellowship in and it looked aweful. The extended dvd's do not hold up well pq wise when putting it on a 118 inch screen.

Really looking forward to get lord of the rings on blu-ray, I don't really care in what version it comes out, I just want them on hi-def!!
I hope they still come out in 2009 or at least the beginning of 2010.

Thank you for this! I've just added Clerks 2 to my Blockbuster cue. That scene brought tears to my eyes as I was laughing so hard!

this is great news,i just wonder how good sales will be.
i remember seeing screen shots back in 2006 on some europe web site.
i say this because,to me the fanfare is over.same thing with starwars.
they wait so long its not that exciteing anymore.
same thing with startrek,all this waiting and and we get, no directors cuts..bummer

Those SD screen captures look really low quality. I don't remember my EE's being that fuzzy.

you have to move your mouse cursor over the picture to see the HD resolution.

Yeah, I think it aired on HD HBO or something once. So the Blu-ray should look better...

Yeah, I saw that. It's just the SD screenshots look so bad.. like worse than they should. But some of the HD pics don't look spectacular either so I suppose it's the compression.

They don't look all that hot on an 84" screen either. This was one of the first DVD's I tried out on my projector and it was horrible. I don't remember the DVD's looking that bad but I guess when you go above 65", the SD quality just isn't going to look that hot.
