How do you think these things start? Being told hat to eat, drink and how to spend your free time is a dictatorship and a nanny state at best imo.

People are telling you that you need help because they believe that you really need it. The bizarre things that you worry about, and the extent to which you worry about them, combined with all of these "I'd rather be dead" type remarks is legitimate cause for concern.

The city nearest to me has an outrageous restaurant and bar tax of 13%! As much and as loudly as I have complained about it, I never saw it as analogous to living in North Korea. Nothing you have been blathering about compares to it, either.

Read about North Korea here from your very own BBC:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-44234505

Life in our countries is not anything like this nor is it becoming anything like this. Your silly comparison essentially trivializes the real hardships that North Koreans endure.

Not really. Film is my passion in life. I don’t drink, I don’t like pubs, I don’t do clubs. I Like theatre, dining out and watching films, tv at home. I’m not a people person and I have small circle of friends. I am very close to my family, but that’s not how you live life. You work all week and see your family at weekends. The thing that gets me through the daily slog of work, work work is knowing I have my films to look forward to.

I tell you all this, to answer your question. I speak the truth. I have always spoke (my) truth in here in the sense that I believe what I write. Sure, a lot of it is fear of what MIGHT happen, but it comes from the soul.

If someone removes a life long passion, does that not remove a large chunk of one’s life?

It’s like serious music fans. If someone removed music from the world, it would suddenly get very dark.

You are not grasping what I am saying. I am stating that this is how it starts imo. A government trying to control every aspect of a persons life. Fast forward ten years when some of these policies could become more of an issue and there could be parallels imo.

Type U.K. internet censorship into Google.

I'm not researching your conspiracy theories; sorry, but no thanks. I like frittering away my time on many things, but this ain't one of them. Just replying to you is becoming taxing. Thus, I will stop for awhile and allow others to respond to your "concerns."

Your "screen time/ sitting too much" tax is farcical enough without trying to leap from that delusion to we will be living in a forced labor camp like the reality in North Korea. No logic and no comparison here. None at all.

I think the probability of the things that you think will happen are EXTREMELY slim.

When I say slim, I mean like someone winning the Mega Millions lottery jack pot 5 weeks in a row, and that same person also discovering the cure for all forms of cancer at the same time.

I only acknowledge your absurd nonsense as a "possibility" in a what-if, hypothetical sense. Not in any sense where I think there's even a reasonable remote chance of it happening.

I live in a country that has a very good quality of life. But everything offered in it is not rosy. It does have a faltering public health system. It's transport system is heavily reliant on overground infrastructure. It has the prospect of taking a big financial hit if a no-deal Brexit happens later this year. Even a quarter of the country does not have any access to high speed broadband yet.

It's entertainment & media sector is vibrant. Here is an outlook from PWC Irish entertainment media sector for the next five years.

You guys are worried about the wrong thing, if I were you I'd be concerned about the next Manufacturer to go under. Panasonic and Sony are the top brands, and they have good Streaming Apps. What is going to be your thinking when another Manufacturer goes belly up? Looking at the Hardware Thread they are having problems keeping up with all the Technologies. Will you people that prefer Physical buy now or wait for the Shake Out? If you wait too long you will get left behind!

I'm still confused as to how anyone is going to be left behind. Is streaming going to become some sort of exclusive club? Will people who continue to support physical media be banned from joining this club in the future?

The manufacturers all remain; no company went "belly up". There is no shortage of hardware; just a shortage of common sense.

I am buying now and I will continue to buy tomorrow. There is no coming "shake out", whatever the hell that's even supposed to mean? There are no impediments to obtaining physical media and the gear with which to enjoy it.

How am I going to be left behind? I have better internet speed than you do now, I already stream (have for years), AND I can watch 4K discs along with most of the previous formats. I can enjoy content almost every way that it is offered; you are the one who has been left behind as you are limited to what subscription streaming offers and a lot of what it offers is absolute dreck. Your digital collection isn't even really yours; it can be modified or deleted at any time. Have you ever even read the EULA and TOS that govern your collection? Probably not; you just blindly place your faith with these "benevolent" corporations.

Still, your dubious predictions are almost refreshing after days of over the top paranoia espoused by another one of our members.

It’s not. It’s a realistic prediction of what could happen if our (in my opinion) control obsessed government get their way. They would tax farting if there was some technology to prove it.

It’s not madness. Nothing about my post is madness. You guys have Trump, anything is possible in both our countries. In my opinion, that guy would ban tv and gaming before he would ban guns.
