I haven’t bought many 4K releases, especially for movies I already own. But this one was a no-brainer. So glad that they included all the bonuses from 2003 3 disc DVD release that were left off of the regular Blu-ray. Great release!

So if i'm not correct, Sony basically just repressed the original 2006 disc for the regular Blu-ray version instead of mastering a new one like they did with Jumanji and the 2002-2014 Spider-Man films?

Correct. It's the 4K disc that counts, not the old BD one (you could give that one to your son, or dad).

It's been so long since I've seen this movie I forgot how great it is. There's a scene though where a frame pauses for a second, I believe it was around where a soldier picks up a hand and puts it in his pocket. I'm curious if that's part of the movie or maybe something wrong with my player/disc.

Edit: I found the scene, looks like it's supposed to be there. Is this an editing mistake or what's the artistic purpose of this little pause? About 2:22 in.

I've had the audio issue on my Oppo 203 and Panasonic UB900, and it always drops/freezes in the same spots.

I think it's the seamless branching that's causing the issue. When i play the theatrical cut, no issues. On the extended cut my Panny freezes for a few seconds and then resumes plays, my Oppo 203 drops audio for a flash. I have the same issue with The Martian extended aswell.

Watched the theatrical cut last night. Highly impressed. Picture quality was solid and the Atmos track was great.

Never seen the film, so I decided to start with the theatrical cut. I will try to watch the extended cut in the next few days, I don't mind the re-watch so soon because it is an excellent film.

Same here. I watched the theatrical cut yesterday and was really impressed with the quality of the disc. I thought it rivaled Crouching Tiger in terms of the textured, filmic quality of the transfer. If film stock was sentient it would love this disc.

Unfortunately, I wasn't quite in the mindset for such an intense experience and I didn't give it my full attention so I'm gonna spin it again tomorrow and go with the extended edition. I didn't notice any playback issues on the theatrical cut but I'll report back tomorrow regarding the extended.

With so many people reporting issues, especially for scenes with seamless branching from all different releases, they seem anything but seamless.

A second is hardly noticeable, if at all, especially if it's not all through the movie. Black Hawk Down is a highly octane action flick, and the majority of the time because of all the action scenes, that you barely notice any minimum sync delay.

I think you may be underestimating how long a full second actually is...

You post a lot of nonsense, but even for you, this is garbage of the very finest vintage.

It's like a blink of an eye! If you're not looking directly at the actor's mouths, as if you're reading their lips, it's not that long.

When it comes to certain posters on here you almost get to feeling like a connoisseur of their madness after a while, that just when you think they can't post anything more asinine they pull a Chateau d'Yquem equivalent out of the mental cellar and you can't help but savour its divine inanity.

Who cares about the blu Ray? They never advertised a remastered blu Ray. They put their time and effort into the current format. Uhd blu ray. If you want a remastered copy they gave us one. It’s not Sony’s fault if people are too cheap to get current gear.

We can notice a delay of one second between movement and sound (mouth moving and word spoken). It's actually a pretty long delay.

That's ok, we all are here to learn in harmony.

Can anyone confirm whether this soundtrack is on par with Saving Private Ryan or equal? I don't have Atmos but SPR shakes and rattles my sub and windows win I play the opening scene from that movie. The bass is out of this world and I expect Black Hawk Down to be the same.
