Good deal? Brand new, where? Or used?

The 3D at my theater for Pompeii was mild most of the way till the fight scenes and the big volcano scene at the end. Then the 3D finally came to life, but sadly too late for me to buy it on blu ray 3D.

Amazon.com. Is listed on this forum 3D deals. They had them in stock, but now it's delayed a bit.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Pompe...lu-ray/100701/

Edit: Actually Amazon.com if you pick southwest media as the seller, has them in stock for the $8.70 price and is shipped prime.

Kiefer Sutherland's fake accent was just too funny for me. It was free On Demand in 3D so I watched once.

I actually thought it was pretty good entertainment and moved along at at nice pace, bought it a couple of months ago at big lots because it was so cheap. I remember it getting bad reviews and never bought it at the release date, but happy to have it my collection now.

Default Pompeii

It was a pretty crappy movie. I had trouble with the midget kicking everyone's butt. Still, I couldn't pass up that under $10 price tag. At least I will be able to watch rocks fly through the air in 3D.

I like the gladiator battle scenes.

I also thought Kit Harington did a decent job in his role.

The effects are good and the audio track kicks azz!

Really liked the ending and the 3D for that part, but sadly couldn't get into the rest of the film or its earlier 3D. I hope Paul WS Anderson amps up the 3D x3 for Resident Evil The Final Chapter in 2017.

I rewatched this on Saturday. Still a really entertaining period action movie. Great action, solid fx and I think the 3D is really good.

How did you like Anderson's other film, The Three Musketeers 3D? The 3D was generally subtle to decent (mild to medium 3D layers mostly). The film itself, I couldn't get into that one.

Yeah, Resident Evil Final Chapter was my least favorite of all the RE Anderson films, and I was hoping it was going to be the best one. There wasn't even an epic fight between Milla and Shawn Roberts (he got
[Show spoiler]smashed by a door, which was so dumb).
The rapid fire editing ruined this movie for me. Anderson said his audience is more sophisticated and will enjoy his fast editing compared to his prior films. I guess I'm not sophisticated then.

But yes, even the 3D was mostly mild with only a few medium 3D layered shots of this generally weak conversion after he gave up on filming in 3D... Very disappointed overall with that one, being a fan of the RE Anderson series. It just seemed rushed and not epic.

I'm a huge fan of the RE film series but Final Chapter was a major disappointment. The horrible hyper fast editing, weak 3D, stupid twist regarding Alice and like you said it wasn't exactly an epic movie. Gimme the 3D and many stylized slo-mo scenes of Afterlife and Retribution anyday!

Thank you, DJR. I'm glad you agree and feel the same way I do about that film. Watching it again, it's not so bad, but it can't compare to the awesome action of the prior 2 films. I think he rushed it out the door, especially for what should have topped everything before it. We didn't even get to see the epic war on top of the White House hinted at the end of Retribution. That would have been amazing. I think the budget was probably lower than he hoped too.

I really like The Three Musketeers 3D. Don't get me wrong, the script is horrible and some of the performances are really poor (Logan Lerman and Milla Jovovich spring to mind) but it's a fun action adventure in a period setting with nice 3D. I love steampunk so that movie ticks a lot of boxes for me with loads of steampunk esque design work, flying ships etc. It's the kind of movie I can just switch off and enjoy the visuals and the action and it's pretty well shot as is usually the case for Anderson's movies. The last Resident Evil is obviously the big exception to that.

Re-watched Pompeii a couple of days ago, having watched Gladiator the night before. Of course, it's not as serious, not as lavish, not as smart, not as good in pretty much every way as Gladiator really. But it is in 3D. And it's good fun. At least, I think it is.

It's a film that, I think, like Anderson's Three Musketeers, is a good example of that wave of natively shot 3D films where they were far too timid with the strength of the stereo and, before long, some of the post-conversions had much more impressive 3D.
