hahahaha. When my collection gets larger, I'll use an app for cataloging. Right now my eyes will suffice.

What's out there for Linux?

You can try GCStar. Never used it, but I've heard of it, so that's something, right?

Side note:

I like when people say they use these programs so they can print off a list of their collection, to make sure they don't end up buying movies they already own.

I think if you are worried about re-buying duplicates, because you can't remember if you own a particular movie, you're probably buying movies you shouldn't be buying anyway.

I use something pretty basic to keep track of my collection: Microsoft Excel. I also have the luxury of webhosting, so I keep a copy of it on my server at all times for access from my mobile phone when I'm out. I've also created a wishlist tab as well. I keep an Excel and PDF version.

I keep a collection here; but I also use Excel to keep one on my hard drive at home and online on my own webspace.

I've added stats and facts to my collections over time too. I particularly keep track of how much the collection is worth, and how many discs/SKUs/movies/episodes are in it.

I use this site. I think it's pretty organized so that's why I use it.

Heheh, good one.

In my case, I have about 50 Blu's so that's still managable, but also +/- 400 DVD's, so I really need software to help me:
- I often travel & sometimes buy DVD/Blu's then, so it helps me keep track
- it's easy to search for a specific movie or series: I can search or organize by genre, title, running time, etc. Say I want to watch a movie but it's already late, I can set a maximum running time and genre and choose from there
- it helps me keep track of the audio tracks & subs included in each release
- it's fun to catalog

Anyway, I see a lot of people on the site use DVD Profiler and I've tried out the demo. Seems a bit better in layout than Movie Collector and audio codecs are rendered nicely, including TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, etc ... which is currently not the case in Movie Collector. Finally, I could find more of my movies with a quick search in their database than Movie Collecter.

... guess I'll have my work cut out transfering my collection
