But I think Stanley didn't want it in there and Yarn in the end prevailed and said no we don't want to show something that Stanley didn't want.

When the print showed up unfortunately it did not have that scene in it."

Yep, it is propper gone.
I am not saying in 30 years someone finds it burried in a motorway somewhere, anything could happen.

The OCN if probably gone but sound like one of the struck prints that didn't end up being screened in New York or LA survived.

Yeah I also have a strong suspicion that the hospital scene is gone. Back in 2011 there was a screening of a bunch of Kubrick's films at the Kodak Film Archives in Rochester, NY. A friend and I were gonna drive down from Toronto for the day to catch the screening because it was rumored that it was going to contain the hospital scene. We didn't end up going but heard afterwards that it turned out to be the same 144-min cut that has always existed in North America. Dodged a bullet I guess, I would've been PISSED if we had driven 2 hours to Rochester to see the same cut we've always seen.

I don't think we're ever gonna see it.

Short test prints for colour timing still exists so i'd like to think the ending still does,

What does that even mean though? He "came close" to seeing it? I mean that as a legitimate question. Did he have the prints and then didn't end up seeing it? How was he so sure he was that close to coming across the footage and then just never did? Sounds like he was just as far off as everyone else.

In the podcast, I think he mentions some frames from the cut negative (the lost ending) exist?

WarnerBrosShop shows the bluray with "4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Extended Cut": https://shop.warnerbros.co.uk/the-sh...tra-hd-blu-ray

Apparently Europe will give the 2 versions (there is no confirmation on the page if both are going to be 4K). But if so, I would buy the UK version so I have the 2 versions. It's not that I do not like the USA version, but it's a nice touch to have the 2 versions.

Where'd you get info (apart from the cover, and HMV) that EUROPE have both versions?

That is one bad cover. Doesn't match the tone of the movie at all. Looks all slick and stylish.

Exactly. I get tired of the pompous armchair film critics who seem to think they know more about a directors work then the director himself.

Looking at the WBShop UK I saw that: https://shop.warnerbros.co.uk/the-shining-4k-ultra-hd-blu-ray

IT IS NOT A CONFIRMATION. I just saw it and shared it to see if anyone could confirm if what they posted on the WBShop page is real (it would be excellent).

It's trying too hard to look slick and stylish so then all it looks like is clumsy and overdetailed fanart. There's an edit a few pages back that looks so much better.

Comments were posted on the banner on the cover yesterday, and the runtime is listed as the famous 146 minutes

I contacted HMV via FB, haven't contacted Warner UK.

Yeah, what Geoff said. Warner Bros have used that 'Extended Cut' banner incorrectly before. I believe The Mule is another title that was initially pictured with it before being corrected at a later date.

Wb shop also changed the packaging pics for the Batman Animated Series about 148 times before it was actually released.
