Very interesting writeup by Kris Deering in Sound and Vision on the UB9000 paired with JVC's projector and how the 350 nit and 500 nit HDR Optimizer modes are best used.
Very good read, here's the link. |

Can we isolate this supposed problem a bit further? 4k UHD playback? Netflix? Amazon? Really, if you’re going to report a issue please be a bit more specific. If all the above great just say so. A little bit of help with your system you are playing the 9000 through would really help to. Thanks!

Didn’t you read what I wrote? It’s only on Netflix app and it’s only in certain UB9000. Never seen this happen on the 820 and most UB9000 don’t have this problem. I already reported mune and several others (my clients) directly to Panasonic Canada.

Originally I established the UB9000 price at $999, but to maintain the normal m/u it should have been higher. I'm glad we created and was able to cap the retail price at under one thousand.
I just received a letter from Panasonic USA's senior executive warning the few select direct dealers of a possible increase as early as July 1st if the proposed new round of tariffs on goods imported from China are imposed. This new round of tariffs would trigger an immediate and significant price increase on the UB9000 as well as many other CE products. The UB9000 would be most effected as I kept the margin low so none of the increase can be adsorbed. Just wanted to pass along the best heads-up notice as just moments ago this was told to me. Supply is very constrained, most retailers are sold out and the temporary IR promotion ends this Sunday. |

Best Buy now says sold out for the UB9000 that might have something to do with what Robert mentioned. It was available for sale just a few days ago and now strangely sold out.
Value Electronics still has stock and you can save 5% for a short while. Glad I already have one bought from VE with the coming price increase it's nice to have it cheaper. |

So in July we might see a new higher list price for Panasonic Blu-ray players. I wish Panasonic would issue a firmware update to offer SACD and DVD-AUDIO support. Years ago Panasonic supported DVD-Audio on some Blu-ray players, with Sony and Pioneer supporting SACD and DVD-Audio, Panasonic should consider offering that feature that requires licensing. If the list price is going to be raised then its the perfect opportunity to issue a licensed SACD/DVD-Audio support.
Pioneer offers nice tone mapping also but the Pioneer is only 2.0 analog audio output. The Panasonic with 7.1 analog audio output would be almost perfect Blu-ray player if that SACD and DVD-Audio feature was offered. The main reason people buy Pioneer and Sony Blu-ray players is because of the SACD/DVD-Audio disc support. Some OPPO owners would purchase Panasonic if the SACD/DVD Audio feature was offered. |

According to my BBY app, they still have the 9000 in stock. Although, I bought mine thru Robert and wholeheartedly recommend him, it's good to have options.

It's also something that you can't add after the fact via FW. Have to wait for a new SoC. ![]() |

Yes, they don’t want universal and never plan to do so
No they don’t use off the shelf SoC, they create their own Therefore, even if they want to, they can’t add it because they no longer have space to add those functionalities on their their SoC. It’s not about flicking a switch to activate the functionalities, there is no functionalities for those on the chip itself, hence they can’t just add (read: activate) it via firmware update sincere there is nothing in there to begin with. Do I wish to have those functionalities? Of course! Am I willing to pay for it even for $100 more? Heck no. Last edited by sapiendut; 06-20-2019 at 10:02 PM. |

I was not aware that the existing chip used does not have enough room to program the function in exiting Panasonic Blu-ray players. Hopefully in 2020 or 2021 Panasonic well offer SACD/DVD-Audio support on a future 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. |
