I read somewhere that Lennon et al received about a half dozen #1s each.

I'm sure it was in a recent copy of Record Collector. There was an article about the White album an an interview with someone associated with the band was at Lennon's house when his consignment of free copies arrived. The guy was told to take as many as he liked but not to touch any of the number 1s, of which there were several.

Ahh, thanks. Aye I used to buy RC regularly, decades ago. Had many eighties and early nineties copies (the old b&w ones) in my parents' garage. Had to be thrown out as they eventually suffered from damp and associated mould degredation. I had a few more recent ones in the house in dry conditions but most of those I got rid of before an enforced move last year. Only ones I have now are a handful with in-depth Folk/Prog/60s Psychedelia [a wee bit before my time!], Kate Bush and Nick Drake articles.

I have a copy of the 1980s MoFi half-speed Mastered "White Album" somewhere...

I see what you mean: no longer sold direct from Amazon.co.uk, only by third-party Marketplace dealers. Well, had I bought two copies, as I would absolutely have done as recently as this time last year, I'd feel like a real sh**.

Edit. Just checked Zavvi, first used their Search field, then clicked on the link to my order (which I later cancelled, right after ordering from Amazon. I only ever intended to purchase one copy). Sold out at Zavvi.

Looks to me like a genuine, early pre-order sell-out; and Amazon were... over ambitious... once again?

Last edited by Sergeant Howie; 06-11-2019 at 04:40 PM. Reason: Sold out at Zavvi too

I tried Amazon CS (LOL) and they just said the normal cut n paste rubbish (ie it'll be delivered on time etc).

Mine is supposedly due on the 17th. But, without any stock, I doubt it'll happen.

I might just pretend this release didn't happen, LOL.

It's 'Rarewaves', well-known Amazon Marketplace sellers, whose advertised price there is £35.00 +£1.26 [UK] delivery. What gives? And if they are selling them on eBay much cheaper than Amazon were (on their website), and presumably turning a profit, we'd all love to know who had them last, and what the wholesale price was...?

I don’t know what’s happening here, but I can’t believe that all 4000 copies have sold out before release date. This is not the kind of film for that happening.
At least I hope so.... cause I’m also awaiting my preorder to be shipped from amazon . No notification from them of any kind.

It's a popular film that has only grown in cult appeal but no, they've not sold 4K in pre-order at nearly 25 quid. I'd be 99% sure it's Amazon just pre-ordering too few for their stock and later this week they'll have it back up.

Ended up cancelling my order of this, the stealing of poster art was shitty as hell but when you add in the issues with The Haunted House of Horror that Screebound refused to do anything about and in one case just lied make it hard to want to support them. If reviews are good for The Blood On Satan's Claw and I can get it at a decent price then I'll grab it but £20-£25 for a title is a little on the steep side especially when you consider the issues on their last big release.
