Yeah, it switches refresh rates based on the input.

The Panny's this year with 24p capabilities will also do this, 96Hz for 1080p24 content, 60Hz for 1080p60 content.

I'm not talking about the new ones that are on there way, I know there gunna be sporting the "O'l 96er" (The Great Out Doors) I'm talking about the 2007-2008 model projectors...I think they have one that does 96Hz. Member "HDTV1080P" or something like that keeps a list of TVs & projectors that refresh at multiples of 24. I think it listed? I'd like to know if anyone has one & what the verdict is???

There's so much more to the 800u than 24p & the THX picture mode (which, by the way, is just a setting - but the display is still certified, outside of that one setting). The single-sheet-of-glass design alone is unlike most of what's available, and is dead sexy. I'm biased, but unless you're waiting for the new stuff, go for it.

I have the 800 u and I love it.As for the AVS opinion on THX I trust Lucusfilm over AVS.

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here....

I've used the 24p on my set and had absolutely no issues (no flicker what so ever). Having said that, I've never noticed any 3:2 judder on my set either, so 24p playback isn't really a big deal.

Out of the box the THX setting (with a little tweaking) was the bomb. Since I have a 58" I know that calibration could brighten my picture a bit (among other things), but I'm truly in love with the picture as is.

That is the same thing most owners experience, although some people like to make mountains out of molehills.

No molehill on mine. The flicker is clearly noticeable...

My flicker seems to increase with the room's ambient light - obviously the flicker isn't changing, but my perception is. The darker my room, the less I notice it. Seems counter-intuitive, but that's how it is.

The only other input I have for you is this - if you look for it, it will be there. FOr me, I really looked for it at first, and thought 'holy crap, I can't use this mode'. I tried it a few more times after (in darker settings) and it's there if I want to see it, but if I lose myself in the movie (anybody got a tissue?) it seems to melt away.

I had zero issues with Pannys, 65" 850 , 50" 800, 58" 800 & so on...There should not be any problems at all with the new sets at 96Hz ( for those bothered by the 2:2 48Hz mode) Thanks for ignoreing me xneox.

Yes, the Kuro does 72Hz which a multiple of 24Hz/p.

Buy that TV & buy that TV quick!!! Its a badass set if you like top notch PQ??? Don't pay any more than $2,000-$2,100 for it from them. Costco has it for $2,000 but there not an authorized dealer (don't say anything about that ay Best Buy) so you don't get the 1 year manufacture warranty! Go to Costco online & print the pg out with the 5020 for $2,000 & take it to Best Buy & have them price match. I had the GM of Best Buy hand sign mine. So there was NO need to call & check & all that crap. Good luck.

Was in BB today. They have them for 2299 now.

On another note they had the 6020 by itself playing MLB on the PS3. That tv looked awesome as heck.
