Well, I have a US account, and am able to access just what’s available in Japan right now as that’s where I am now.

you're not region/ geo locked?

No matter where your account was created, you get content belonging to where you are. People use unblocking DNS services to access US content from Canada, Europe, etc.

that's a good thing, with certain region Netflix's have different shows/ movies then others

Eva drops in less than 2 hours here in Japan, so I’ll comment if any English subtitles or dub are included, and their quality. 俺は日本語を話します。So, I can comment if the subtitles (if included) are off, and if a dub(s) are included, then I can speak as to their quality (but I’ll still be biased).

I never watched the original dub of NGE, and have only ever seen clips of it, other than me watching the series only in Japanese, so this new dub is fresh to me with no nostalgia.

Let’s see if it’s sh*t like 95% of all dubs...

What about Neon Genesis Evangelion?
We have decided not to release the series in Dutch. The earlier reason (the large numbers of imports) and the now completed series in French / Portuguese / Spanish means that we would have to do the series all over again. The revenues do not in any way outweigh the costs unfortunately... (But you already imported it ...? )

That bit about the imports was most definitely true. Even the local DVD store had imported copies of EVA on the shelves.

I don't get it why they couldn't use Fly Me To The Moon. Surely it wouldn't have been much of a problem to a party as big as Netflix to pay for the rights?

Just saw the first episode of the Evangelion re-dub and it was f**king horrible as expected. Everyone was trying to match the original dub cast in terms of voice, but here the actors are lifeless and give little emotion. The original dub wasn’t that good, but at least you could tell the actors gave their all. Spike Spencer yelling to Gendo in Episode 1 may be kind of campy, but you can tell he’s trying to emote and here the new actress isn’t. In addition, the translation is not great. In many spots it is totally different than the original intent. It’s baffling that it’s so adaptive for a show with dialogue so rich as Evangelion.

I have no problem with how the characters sound, but man, their acting is atrocious.

I mean, it was pretty obvious Netflix would outsource the dubbing to a freelance studio, but I have never heard of VSI before. They have a large list of clients, but because it was a company not usually handling anime, there aren’t as many recognisable names.

I'm watching the latest seasons of Supergirl, Arrow and Flash on US Netflix these days. Netflix gets all CW shows a week after the season ends in the US, but if you add Legends of Tomorrow, the Arrow-verse shows are on three or four different channels/streaming services over here.

The Arrow-verse series is kind of meh but that doesn’t make any sense to have them on seperate services/channels considering how connected each series are to eachother. Like the Crisis on Earth-X crossover episodes has like an episode per series to where you have to watch all Arrow-verse series to get the full story.
