Default Dreamcast Question

I am wondering what the best way to hook up my dreamcast to my Hitachi L32A404 modding or a cable but it seems I can only do A/V since looking at this table it doesn't seem to accept any other signal on the other inputs.

There's a Turkish company called Beharbros that makes a couple of VGA-to-HDMI boxes, the cheapest of which is the Gekko ($60). Pound and Hyperkin also make cheaper HDMI cables, but they aren't as good. All of them only work with games that support VGA, so you would still need to use composite or S-video for the games that don't. These output in 480p, so based on the chart above, they would work with your TV.

There is also an HDMI mod for the Dreamcast. I don't know as much about it, but there are videos on YouTube. I believe one advantage the mod has is universal compatibility, but I could be wrong about that. It's called the DCHDMI, if you want to look into it. I do know it outputs in 1080p, so, again, your TV should support it without any issues.

I will have to check these out then. Thanks.

Also anyone know why hooking directly up the VGA from a a VGA box doesn't work? I can't remember the brand and don't have anything at the moment since its in storage.

My understanding is it has to do with the fact that the Dreamcast's VGA output doesn't use a standard VGA resolution, which confuses most digital TVs, causing then to display in the wrong aspect ratio or not at all. This article from RetroRGB goes into more detail about that, as well as the different HDMI options I mentioned:

I have the Toro one.

Also 1 Atlona AT-HD500 VGA to HDMI scaler.

It’s overkill but games on Dreamcast look as best as possible on modern TVs.

Just wondering since I couldn't really find an answer on RGB's page. I can't seem to using my VGA box and an adapter cable from VGA to HDMI to get any picture so is the only way to do this would be to use one of the boxes listed or a direct from dreamcast to HDMI to cable without out doing the mod.
