Then you're stuck reading janky subs. Unless you can speak japanese of course. It's a tough call.

Good thing I don't need subs to enjoy my Japanese.

So my only issue is the lack of ending song. Oh and that Netflix sucks.

It’s awkward either way. Sure using the previous cast is more about consistency but it will also make you question on the point of using a new English Dub cast at all since either way you’re going to have 2 totally different Dubs to work with between what’s on Netflix and what isn’t.

I’m saying the Dub vs Sub thing is not helping with the conversation. The conversation is for those who do listen to English Dubs.

But Sub-only users would probably say the same on a series that isn’t even set in Japan and on a very fictional Earth with no actual real countries just fictional ones, taking place in America or Europe, or series taking place in space or on some planet.

Why people watch dubs is less important than the mere fact that they do. That ship sailed decades ago.

The simple answer is that you can’t go wrong with English or Japanese. Sure both language Dubs do things that are questionable, but the English-Japanese debate is 1 of the most dumbest and silliest debates ever. Everyone has their stance on what they like and it’s not like you’re going to convert someone to not listen to English Dubs or Japanese versions just from an English/Japanese Voices debate.

I’m neutral for instance as in I listen and enjoy both languages and no-one can convert me to being a Sub-only watcher or English Dub-only watcher. The fact of the matter is that both languages are a Dub since drawings have no voice. There is no real original language. Sure the Japanese is recorded 1st 97% of the time, but I feel that is irrelevant in Animation and videogames. Live-Action I can understand but not so much as in like Anime.

it's unfortunate, but at the end of the day, I don't care that much, since it's a version stored on Netflix servers

if it was a physical release, I'd actually skip it just for that

I like watching anime in Japanese with subs but when trying to watch while looking after your seven month old baby you have to go with the dub!

Shockingly I have never seen Evangelion before (even though I have been watching anime since the early 90's Manga UK days) and am two episodes in so far and love it!

Because we live in America and speak English? That's like asking why do they dub Marvel movies in Spanish and other languages.

You must forgive me, yesterday was hell for me. I had 3 flights: one from Osaka to Vancouver; one from Vancouver to Toronto, and one from Toronto to Detroit. The Osaka One was delayed, so I missed the flight in Vancouver and had to wait for another one, although there was no guarantee I’d even get on that; then once I arrived in Toronto, my flight to Detroit left while I was held up by customs/TSA who wanted to check my stuff again for some reason, so I had to wait to see if another flight could take me home; all the flights for Detroit left and I had to sign some paperwork so I could get out of the airport and into Canada so I could go to a hotel and get a room for the night. Now I’m going home after nearly 24 hours of airline hell.

I let my stress out on forums and it shows. Sorry for bringing up the sub vs dub debate again. Just watch whatever you prefer- I advise the original Japanese, but that’s my opinion.

It's not a big deal, honest. I just don't understand why it's gotta turn into an argument anytime dub is brought up. By now I'd say most of us on here know how we feel on dub/sub, so it's best to respect each others opinion and leave it at that.

I've noticed it's primarily dub watchers as of late who start the debate again that was over ages ago. The tides have turned from elitist subbers of yesterday. "I only watch it subbed" and they come out the woodwork with chatter of invalidation like they've been called out and picked on when no one was talking about them. Then when the debate starts it's not their problem for having the problem.

I'll go watch whatever and y'all can too. It's really that simple. lmao

From what I've seen on Facebook and Twitter recently, I'll have to disagree with that. It's the sub only viewers who comment on how terrible the dub voice actors are, how could you watch it dubbed, yada yada.

Agreed on all this. It's a case-by-case basis for me, but I can happily enjoy both.

I wish I had the patience and willpower to stick with it and learn Japanese, so then I wouldn't even need subs lol, but that's sort of a pipe dream.

I could not disagree more lol. The only time I've seen "dub watchers" start a debate is in this situation, where they actually pit a new eng dub vs an old one. Maybe that happens on social media or something, because I'm really only around forums.

Japanese vs English dubs is definitely a dead horse, but I think new dub vs old dub can still be a fun argument.

That doesn't mean dub-watchers have to take the bait or feel slighted. Most sub-watchers watch subs in part because they think English dubs are bad.

Saying that "anime has no native language" is one of the dumber arguments to bring up. Anime is distinctly Japanese, and should be watched in Japanese for the "true" experience. If I were to watch anime with the English dub instead of subbed, I'd cringe because of the terrible acting, terrible pronunciation of names, and it'd lose a large part of what makes anime anime, to me.

I don't understand those who wouldn't buy a sub-only release, but to each his or her own...

I'm halfway through this and I'm hooked. what a great show

I've watched 1.11 and 2.22, but this is so much better. saying that, when I'm done with the show and 2 movies, I'll give Rebuild another chance, and finally pick up 3.33
