It's not just you, Jardel. This has been discussed on numerous occasions. I, too, much prefer the booklets.

Quite simply, it's a cost cutting measure.

I know what you mean. It took me forever to find a good copy of On The Waterfront. And I've been looking for a good copy of The Last Metro for several years now. I try to get the new ones in their first few months of release. After that, shelf wear sets in and it gets dicey.

Yes, those staples were so expensive.

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing.

I'm with you on this one, for sure. They will always be my favorites, to be honest. And I guess I'm just lucky, but of all the digipacks I've received, whether from Criterion or not, not a one has any damage.

Now, I don't know what it's like in the stores since I really only buy from Amazon, Criterion, and a couple of others (occasionally overseas).

I believe they started doing it around the time when they switched back from dual format releases to separate DVD and Blu-ray releases .

Well, unless I'm forgetting something obvious (likely), I think I've settled on my choices for the sale:

Rushmore

Summer Hours

Dheepan

War and Peace

It Happened One Night

Les Cousins

Pan’s Labyrinh

L’Humanite

I wish it was today. I can only get one BD this time and want to look through the store shelves see if any of my wishlist is there.

one have not put on my wishlist is Beauty and the Best. I can't seem to make up my mind on that. Given my collection of Criterions would I enjoy this?

Summer Hours is really good.

I'm picking up Clouds of Sils Maria, among thirteen other titles.

Things like Rosie O'Donnell should be slimming down, not Criterion Collection booklets.

There was one months ago.

The film is featured on The Criterion Channel and Janus has tweeted stills of the film.

I remember Betty Blue being terrible. Interested to see it again, I guess.
