UB820 is on promotion again trough July 13th. It's $50 instant rebate taken off the price at checkout.
I rounded it down and took off the additional $0.99 to make it an even $449. from us. Sale ends Saturday, July 13th and if the Roadmap does no change, not more sales are scheduled. Last edited by Robert Zohn; 07-01-2019 at 01:01 AM. |

For those that do not need SACD/DVD-Audio support that is a good deal. The Panasonic DP-UB820 is the cheapest Blu-ray player in production that has the 7.1 analog audio outputs. Normally that feature is found on Blu-ray players for around $1,000+. In fact Panasonic is the only Blu-ray player manufactory that still offers 7.1 analog audio outputs which is ideal for consumers that do not want to use HDMI for audio. Plus HDR10+ is supported (many companies only support HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR). Great review from Sound and Vision magazine also: https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...-player-review Last edited by HDTV1080P; 07-01-2019 at 02:19 PM. |

The UB820's 7.1 analog audio output, and it's digital optical and dual HDMI outputs are very good features as well as support for all of the HDR formats, but it's the HDR Optimizer that tops my list of must have features.

The only thing I don't like about Panasonic players are the choose of TosLink optical digital audio output instead of coaxial S/PDIF.
S/PDIF can transport Hi Res audio up to 192/24 without any issues even using an inexpensive 75 Ohm cable, with TosLink 192/24 a high quality fiber optic cable is needed and some players like Panasonic's don't feature optical transmitters that can do over 96/24. One question as I haven't tried this yet: do all Panasonic UHD BD player convert DSD to Hi Res PCM even via HDMI? |

Robert,
I have a UB9000, but cannot find any detail on how to use the 7.1 Analog connections. What is connected to the 7.1 Analog plugs on the UB9000. Regards, UB9000. |

First word problem can't decide if I want to pull the trigger on a ub820. Want to mostly see how well or not the hdr optimizer works with an LG C6.

It won't matter because the opitmizer won't be working. All you need to do is find the setting Dynamic range conversion adj. Slide that up until it is bright enough and that's about it. You can also mess with the black and white tone curve.

Robert - is Panasonic aware of the Netflix lip sync issue that’s developed?
It seems to be brand new - and sporadic at least for me. Worse for others. Watched Three Kingdoms fine, then The Dirt I couldn’t watch, them Jessica Jones was fine. There’s several experiencing it and talking about it over on the AVS forum thread. |

It is the HDR Display Type setting that is not used in the SDR output modes. You only need to tell the Optimizer whether you have a basic, middle, or high luminance display when you have the player in HDR output mode. |
