As my epiphany, that I shared yesterday, regarding the future of movies and TV shows was ignored I will simply repeat it until you are all forced to confront the fate that awaits us all:

"I predict that in the future all movies and TV shows will be told in the form of a haiku. Not only will they be short, they will be sheer poetry."

I expect my predictions to receive the same consideration as those of our more notorious seers. I have been reduced to quoting myself here like what's-his-name does!

Content creators seeking a much cheaper option of having their content bought for short form and then owning those rights after two years to stitch together for global distribution is a game changer. My theory is based in reality.

Your theory is based in an alternate reality. There, I fixed that for you free of charge.

All businesses want to reduce costs, thanks Captain Obvious. It is your inevitable conclusion that movies and TV shows are doomed that is being ridiculed, not the launch of Kewpie or Qbert or Qtip or whatever its called.

Quibi hasn't even launched and you have them being a "game changer." I can only assume that you have invested heavily in them as you are oh so certain that they will take the world by storm? Have you put your money where your mouth is? If you're right and you invest in them then you stand to make a fortune. If you're right and you do not invest in them, then you're a damn fool.

Feel free to invest in my prediction while you're at it. PM me for details on where to buy shares.

There are a number of things happening here. First of all, this tech that will allow viewing via portrait OR landscape. If nothing else, this technology will be of huge interest to others.

Investment is now in the billions spanning several huge names such as Disney, Spielberg, Del Toro, Jason Blum etc..

We already have written proof that in3 director decided to release his film via Quibi because of the savings and the guarantee of ownership.

Costs for short form are obviously far lower than traditional film and tv media.

If Quibi is even remotely successful, it will kick off a chain reaction with all the media powerhouses.

Mobile content has the option of being completely interactive, meaning it is exceptionally hard to pirate.

Location based ads are a huge pull for advertisers.

5G will allow better, more reliable streaming via mobile.

You guys see a scramble of unrelated concerns. What you should see is a well calculated, considered horror story of future distribution of content via mobile.

What you should see is a qualified licensed therapist. There is NOTHING here but another prospective provider of short form content marketed to a mobile audience. Mobile audiences are not the ONLY audience and Quibi is not the only service hoping to profit from that market. All markets will continue to have new products and services introduced to them. This in no way means that other markets are endangered.

Portrait framed videos have been posted on youtube for over a decade and they have not revolutionized film making and they have had zero impact on other commonly used aspect ratios. There is nothing new or high tech about rotating your phone 90 degrees when filming something.

Cost is only part of the equation; it is the return on investment that matters. A blockbuster movie can be very costly to make, but the reason they are made, and made often, is because of the huge profit they can, and do, generate.

Interactive software is no safer from piracy than non-interactive software. Smaller demand for it is the only thing that makes its piracy less likely.

We have had location based advertising for years and years because we have had mobile devices for years and years and of course it appeals to advertisers, thanks again for stating the obvious.

5G will allow many things potentially, including better internet access for those in areas neglected by the major ISPs with which they can do far more than just stream vertically framed shorts.

Again, if you are so convinced that Quibi is going to dominate the video market to the utter destruction of all else, then why aren't you investing in it?

OK, I’m going to nip this one right in the bud. Stop all this strutting around you peacock. I was brought up to never say something about someone that you wouldn’t say to their face. It is just that simple. The way I am online is pretty much how I am as a person. Bottom line, I like to bust balls. So nut up or shut up.
Yeah, you aren’t the only one who feels the need to quote themselves again Vilya. You talk too much to be a real threat to anyone but yourself Steedeel. Neither one of us knows what the other is capable of based off of their post count. So why don’t we quit while we’re ahead and stick to the topic at hand from this point forward.

There is another article here which promotes the use of physical media over streaming. It gives people a very basic explanation & advice about the differences of using Blu-ray including UHD Blu-ray & streaming. This guy who is the author is definitely a big proponent of watching CGI spectacle movies in 4K. He makes a good point about it when he saw Spiderman Homecoming on the big screen in the theater & then saying that he wanted to buy the 4K version of the movie when it came out through the various retail stores.

On Quibi; would there be much more people who would be able or interested in paying for a small subscription with advertising when the content develops into longer form content. The options that people have in the US is Vudu with one other option where the consumer has to pay a minimal cost along with online advertising. Is that type of market which is going to be more popular in the US as they head into the future. Youtube Red have appeared to be more sensible for that part in offering all of their content which includes access to Google Play.

Are people not becoming more fed up with paying for subscriptions with adverts because they might think it becomes a turn-off after consuming the content for a temporary basis? I would think that there has to be an upper limit in how people spend their money on content. If people think that paying for stuff with advertising included is going to make their lives better; they need be to more careful in applying that tactic on themselves.

I think for me Dublin, it is bundles that drive me bonkers more than anything. I wish we had been able to keep the cable and satellite companies out of the internet. They’ve created such a monopoly here in the states that you can’t have one over the other. I’ve been trying to explain this to both my wife and MiL who feel we need to switch over to satellite. It doesn’t matter, we’d still have to pay our local cable company for internet and it isn’t like you watch more than 5 channels old lady

Well Quibi is a subscription streaming service like its long form competitors Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc..

The content going long form just means it can be distributed theatrically, via streaming sites or any other means.

By the way, I think subscription streaming buffet-like services are the future for the U.S and globally, not paying for individual movies. People will still rent and buy the odd film but s lot of content will be watched via those subscription channels. We can already tell from Digital HD numbers that ownership is not a huge deal anymore.

I hunk nsn6 millions would be ok with ads as long as they don’t infest the content. NBC Universal are bringing a streaming app to the U.K. next year that will be ad supported and free for Sky customers. I think they were talking pre roll ads and then maybe a short burst half way through a show. Could be wrong about that final detail.

See, even then you have to go the extra step and post that gif. Why not just leave it at what you typed?

Finally, someone who can post with a bit of class.

Yeah, John Wick 3 is a must own for me. Fantastic action cinema.
