Hey it's Tom the new acting General Manager for Dark Force. Quite the contrary Hedji, in fact if you read many of the comments on the post many of the fans did get that this one is a grind house experience with an actual 35 mm drive-in print complete with some lines and splices and of course most importantly that Gates of Hell main title. We are not knocking the BLUE UNDERGROUND version, this one just has an altogether different feel to it. Definitely seems to have deeper or brighter colors if that's the proper way to describe it. The biggest difference is watching the BU version is like seeing a restored master whereas the DF feels like you are watching it at the drive-in. Perhaps some actual clips from the new master would be more appropriate. I can make that happen and soon.

It's all good, Tom. ![]() If you are in the mindset of taking feedback from customers, please consider that, unlike with Dead Pit, most will be double or triple (quadruple?) dipping on the Fulci title as a curio piece presentation. I'm not really interested in Psycho From Texas, but give me lots of Drive-In cartoons and intermissions. I raise these points to plant a bug in your ear as you consider price point. For $22 plus shipping, I will add this title to my collection for the fourth time. For Dead Pit pricing, I will live without it. |

Thanks, Tom, for the images of a badly decomposed infant corpse. That'll teach me to peruse this thread while having my breakfast.

I believe the DF release is taken from a theatrical 35mm print. If you want the most "accurate" presentation that would be scorpions release. The DF release is an alternative drive-in/grindhouse presentation for fans of the film who would be interested for nostalgia purposes and to have an alt version of the transfer.

To further capture the authentic drive-in experience, the framing actually should be a bit "off". It's not like the projectionists were working at the prestigious Grauman's Chinese Theatre, they were working at a drive-in. We should expect the quality framing that some teenager can muster who was busy making out with his girlfriend between reels. Or better yet, maybe ate some nachos and got cheese on some of the frames, or cut out a few nudity frames to keep for themselves.
Step up your game Dark Force! I want nacho cheese on the film scan and missing nudity frames to really complete the drive-in express. A coupon for an overpriced hot dog at the concession stand would also help. |

Thank you! That would explain why I couldn't find it. Searching for this dvd, it would appear the Dark Force store has some in stock, but buying a copy is not so easy.
Also, totally unrelated, but has the forum been loading really slowly for anyone else today? Last edited by Gotho(redux); 07-09-2019 at 06:35 PM. |
