Default Evil Dead Rise (2023)

Quote:
“In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

Yeah, let's leave anything having to do with the remake out of the next one, please. And if Raimi's on board, you know damn well Bruce will be back. Retired my ass....

They could possibly continue where the director's cut of AOD left off...

I never did finish watching the show, but I'd be down for whichever way they decide to go with this. Whether it follows after the remake or the original timeline.

Hell, maybe they can come up with some ridiculous storyline that connects everything.

Bruce Campbell from a recent interview

KT: As they say. So, speaking of ‘Believe It or Not!,’ I still can’t believe you retired iconic character, Ash Williams. Are you sticking to that? No way I can talk you into reconsidering?

BC: Yeah, I’m sticking to that; it gets easier every year.

KT: [Laughs] Fair enough.

BC: I’m still doing video games, I’m doing voices for Ash. I’m just not going to grovel in the blood anymore.

KT: I think that’s fair. It’s not retiring the character, just a retirement plan.

BC: I’m retiring from certain types of roles, ones that require looking at tennis balls on sticks.

IDK. The trilogy was perfect. The series was great. Don't screw up your legacy Mr. Raimi.

If they’re in the same Universe then I would like to see Ash and Mia in one Evil Dead movie. Imagine them having a bloody and gory fight with the demons

Bruce is Ash. No Bruce, no Ash. Leave Ash alone. He accomplished his destiny.

Hopefully, the new movies will explore the Kandarian Demon's origin as well as the overall Evil Dead mythology. Set in different eras? Why not? That would be cool.

Thumbs down

And the cycle continues....

Just like with Danny Boyle and Yesterday recently, a filmmaker known for a cult-favorite genre property is making the publicity rounds to promote a new project. They inevitably get asked about their old standby, and of course they give nebulous answers like, "I have an idea, we're considering several things, if person X is available, yadda yadda...." And this is sufficient to get the online fanbase riled up. But it never leads to anything.

So, nothing to see here. Same old, same old. Believe nothing about 28 Months Later and "Evil Dead 4 / 2 / whatever" until the cameras start rolling.

I don't blame Bruce for not wanting to do ash anymore. Ash Vs Evil Dead getting cancelled was part of it and He just turned 61 years old and I don't think he wants to be splattered with blood and doing all those stunts anymore.

I didn't hate the remake but I didn't love it either. For me Campbell is Ash more so than Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. I won't go see any one else in either role. Even if they just do a continuation of the Evil Dead universe with new characters I still have no interest, Raimi or not.

Since it makes no difference to me one way or another I hope they cast an African American Female as Ashley just to make the internet fun.

Octavia Spencer already played her in Ma.

I know I am quite alone on this opinion but I loath Evil Dead 2. I can kinda handle Army Of Darkness because I don't watch it as an Evil Dead movie but all that "Groovy" crap and hammy acting annoyed the shiz out of me.

I like my Evil Dead shocking and dark and scary. I remember being terrified by it at 12 years old with my mother letting me watch it as a VHS rental (she loves horror movies). But when the sequel came out I was too young to understand the direction it was going in and sat there scratching my head at why it was a remake and why it was all gonzo funny.

I still get creeped out by the original even in its blu ray 4k HD gloriousness where you can see where the actors masks end. Such a great movie.

The make-up is truly gorgeous... and, well, the possession does affect the face, not the neck (or at least not entirely), that's official. So it's proper.
