I hope it’s good too cuz I’m thinking about it at $298 Canadian here. A good budget UHD player.

I still have the first Samsung player.

It's an excellent player. I've had it for almost a week now and have no complaints.

The freezing issue is just a problem on this player, isn't it?

Just got this for free yesterday and it's lightyears faster and produces better results than my first generation Philips player.

And yet, the thing has locked up at least 4 times since it arrived yesterday. Mind you, it has also played two UHD disc straight through twice without a problem.

Is the freezing issue just something you have to deal with and not worry about?

(If I'm being honest, I just need this thing to play the Dark Knight Trilogy, Private Ryan, Schindler's List, and Kubrick UHD's without a problem for the foreseeable future.)

I have had a couple of 4K freezes (out of a lot of plays) but every time a thorough clean of the disc surface has fixed it... how it get marks when I'm so careful mst be down to my poor technique IMO but yes, my X700 can be a bit sensitive so I suggest making sure of a mark free disc before begining as it *always* picks a high tension moment to find the freeze point!

I'm going nuts here!
Bought this thing to try something and connected an exFAT formatted 1TB SSD drive and all I get is a buda folder and I've read up on it and deactivated BD Live and even reset the network settings but the player keeps creating this dang buda folder and nothing else is showing up :/
No MKV and no BDMV folder
I put these in a folder called MY MOVIES
Am I missing something?

Mine is formated NTFS , works fine on the X700 and Roku Ultra.

No ISO for any new player regardless of brand and price.

ah dang it!
I read in another forum that the X700 is THE player to buy since it is the ultimate FILE master :S

tried the DUNE HD PRO 4K after using the DUNE SOLO for 3 years and the PRO was garbage and now I'm trying to find a worthy successor for my SOLO.

any recommendations?

It's your best bet for price to performance ratio. I've found freezing issues on Sony players can be due to the quick start feature. I leave it off now. I've had my 700 for about three months. I use it a lot. Only one DVD has ever frozen on me. These players are like computers. It's a good idea to restart them frequently, so leave the quick start turned off.

What is it freezing up on? Is there vibrations around the player? Are you using quick start? And a power strip or directly plugged into the power socket? It shouldn't freeze a lot. For me it is usually with DVDs.

No vibrations. I do have quick start on. It’s plugged into a power supply. Last film it froze on was the CAPTAIN MARVEL Blu. It unfroze itself, returned to where it left off and I finished it, no problem.

I've watched Captain Marvel without freezing. I'd start with turning off quick start. If you still have frequent problems, try plugging directly into the wall. Some people say this can affect it. I still believe some of the freezing I had with a previous player was due to HDMI compatibility problems between my Sony player and LG TV I had at the time. Now that I have a Sony TV, and a the Sony player, I rarely have freezing issues.
