Less re-releases would be nice. I’m actually hoping we get announcements for films that haven’t yet seen a release since VHS.

I don't see anyone begging for them, just saying that the best PQ is a desired request... not just the same old thing wrapped up in a prettier package.

Yes! Another vote for DARK PLACES (Christopher Lee, 1973) right here. You listening Scream Factory? The people are clamoring for it.

I'll clamor for it if it does any good! Anything Christopher Lee unreleased gets my vote!

I hate to say it because I love all of the major boutique labels, but the situations with the 4K releases of Waterworld and Pan’s Labyrinth do make even Arrow and Criterion look quite a bit behind the curve.

Shout waited until, what, 2010 to start releasing movies on Blu at all, so I’m not surprised by their reluctance — but the moment UHDs start to become easier for the public to adopt and titles like The Thing or Child’s Play inevitably start hitting the format from someone else, I guarantee you they’ll be wishing they’d put in the work for it.

I'm sure folks will be just as eager to purchase UHD's when Shout factory rolls out its first double dip with a $49.99 or $59.99 MSRP. Especially once they realize that for most of these films the "upgrade" in picture quality is so small that it makes little to no difference in the end. Shout Factory won't be going back for much more in the way of extras, Audio tracks are already pretty much at their peak, so essentially all your asking for is an incremental increase in PQ, revisionist HDR, and a very high price point that everyone will complain about and claim that they'll wait until the title is on sale; which of course when it does go on sale people will then claim that the sales are a joke and that the prices still aren't low enough blah blah blah.

Are we really that far down the list of unreleased Lee?

I could see Shout’s compression messing with the quality of whatever 4K titles they would hypothetically release unless they fix that up, but considering how much of Scream’s library consists of movies finished on film, there’d definitely be more than an incremental PQ increase.

Regarding price, sure, but that’s also already happening with the Twilight Time-level prices some of their 1080p CEs are commanding now. Personally I’m an eager future-proofer, so I’d like to see releases follow the model of Kino’s Hannibal release — stacked 1080p disc thrown in with the 4K upgrade.

I’ll likely be happy with whatever does get announced considering the quantity of announcements, but my only pipe dream hope is Fright Night Part II.

The difference between a good 4k scan on Blu Ray and that on UHD would not be significant enough regardless of the title to command a MSRP of $50+. If somehow Shout Factory could release the titles at current pricing levels AND include a Blu Ray disc in the package then sure, I'm on board, but just like how they phased out DVD's, I don't see them giving us both disc options, maintaining the high quality extras, and keeping the same price points currently.

Shout Factory is not Lionsgate, they will not price potential 4k releases competitively as they won't be able to due to licensing fee's, nor would they have too. Likely the cost for the release will be well into the 30's or 40's and would not include a remastered Blu Ray disc.

As opposed to all these digital films released on 4k that are just 2k upscales? lmao. And people already piss and moan about the price. They want everything under 20 bucks but they need the slip (and booklets in Arrow's case) too. Blu-rays don't look much better than DVDs they said. 720p is good enough they said. I don't want SF to release UHD's anyway.

Apparently there are rules against livestreaming that are in place by Comic Con itself, so no. I went looking around about 15 minutes ago hoping to find one as well, but instead found the rules bit prohibiting live streaming.

Yeah.. I remember last year someone was live tweeting the releases or something like that.

Anyone remember that account?
