![]() [Show spoiler] Yes, it's pretty amazing when you factor in all the studios they've now worked with. I remember, years ago, asking them if they could release Brainscan, and they replied with, "Sorry, that's a Sony title." Now that Paramount has been accessed, I feel like nothing is out of the question/off limits. Who knows where they're going at this point...? The sky's the limit. Either way, it looks like Scream Factory is becoming the elite line for the horror film library. At this point (and I know I may get some flack for this), I think they've surpassed Arrow as far as titles licensed. Last edited by RedHarvest; 07-22-2019 at 12:25 PM. |

![]() But in all seriousness, it is astonishing to think how vast their library will be when this is all said and done (hopefully not for a few years yet). I thought Anchor Bay's catalogue would never be surpassed, but I think Scream will ultimately succeed in this (at least in terms of horror, admittedly AB's scope was more broad). For that they deserve a tremendous amount of credit. Hard to think we'd reach this point when the line was announced 7 years ago. I bet Cliff and Jeff never thought we would either. |

Also worth noting that Shock Cinema (the Australian label) has announced Roman Polanski's the Tenant. This the same label that has already announced MBV, too. I think it's safe to assume SF might have access, as well.

In terms of other titles I'm waiting to see if we have a StudioCanal-style situation where other labels sniffing around (i.e. Criterion and Kino, perhaps even Arrow) might have done new deals with Paramount reflecting their apparent shift in policy (that, or some serious cash was finally stumped up). If so, I could definitely see The Tenant ending up with Criterion. But if Scream have had first dibs on everything (and given that Kino and Arrow would have been after these horror titles too, I expect they got the pick of the horror titles at least, possibly more for the Select line as well), well, maybe they picked up The Tenant? Might be that other labels are only really aware of their success with Paramount in light of their SDCC announcements, so it will be interesting to see if the Kino Insider is any more transparent about things now, given he was rather coy when initially asked.

Pretty large amount and diverse tittles announced at Comic Con. There are a few I have not seen over the years, a few I'm not interested in, and a possible double-dip with Big Trouble in Little China. The two that I truly want to get are Twins and Very Bad Things from the Shout line at this point.

There's definitely someone new at Paramount's Home Video division since they also seem to be newly interested in releasing some back catalog titles themselves, although The Stand, Pet Sematary and MacGyver had/have remake tie-ins that justified the BD reissues. The 70's series Holocaust doesn't have a tie-in, though. If Arrow gets in on this I'm probably going to go bankrupt.

I’m hoping that with this new deal they have with Paramount, Ordinary People might now be a contender for a Shout Select release. That film is far overdue for an HD release. It’s probably one of my most wanted titles actually I’m really sick of having to watch the DVD every time I wanna watch this movie.

I'm surprised with all the Paramount talk that no one has mentioned The Stepford Wives.
However, I do know that the rights with that title are tricky; at last word, some outside company actually owns the rights to the film although I can't remember who. Does anyone know who it is? |

Initially I was wondering if he meant more of a 'there's no smoke without fire' thing, though I'm not sure now. Given how he words this, it doesn't sound as though Kino were aware (at that point, this was about 3 weeks ago) of Scream agreeing a package deal with Paramount does it? After all, he only mentions 'a title'. |

But one Paramount title I think we'd all love to see is Looking for Mr Goodbar. Could Shout (or someone else) finally unravel the rights issues around that one? |

Stepford Wives (and the remake) are both top tier wants for me. But I guess nothing is impossible at this stage. I'd love to hear SF elaborate on this Paramount deal, considering that no one ever thought it would happen. I mean, we've been speculating on the possibilities of that for years, and it's become a type of legendary golden goose for SF fans and Blu-ray collectors. But I know SF are usually tight-lipped about such things, though. Still, I'd love to know how it came to be.

Are you referring to the legendary alternate ending? I know it was shot, but do we know if this footage actually still exists? I too would love to see it, as April Fool's Day has been a favourite of mine for years. I'd love to see this one get a Collector's Edition release (and this seems like a no brainer at this point, so long as the Paramoint Deal allows for it), and if they do in fact have that alternate footage, it would be amazing to finally see it.

Looking for Mr. Goodbar has music right issues. It would be nice if someone could figure those out. |

It's so depressing to have people on the inside track confirm my suspicions. GOODBAR is now a Holy Grail title, I can't wrap my head around such a good film being torpedoed for life over a couple disco tunes.
