Sad news for US citizens, the domestic 3D release has been canned last minute. Just like Furious 7 and Fast 8, the 3D will only be available in international territories.

Hopefully there will be a 3D Blu-ray international release somewhere.

Thanks for the info Creed. I figured it would only be overseas for 3D.

Damn it!
Our local theatre here in Canada were already preselling tickets for 4 daily 3D showings.
Sadly, those 4 showings are now listed as 2D.

Not sure why, but I just saw a commercial minutes ago, on US broadcast TV, showing a commercial for the Turo brand of rental cars or something, and it said Hobbs and Shaw, August 2, and then showed on the bottom, Real D 3D.

But this must have been an older commercial for a product, that wasn't up to date compared to the latest trailers. But yeah, it clearly showed that this was going to be in 3D. Bummer. I'm going to see this either way as a fan of these action stars. Idris Elba as the bad guy should be cool to see. Dark Tower he was cool in, as well as Pacific Rim 1.

The trailer above also shows Real D 3D and was published by the Fast and Furious Youtube Channel on June 28, 2019. They need to update their information if it's not going to be in 3D according to Creed. (Creed, where did you spot the info, I can't find it yet).

Hobbs & Shaw 3D is still being listed at many theaters and pre ticket chains including Fandango.

Britnasty stated it in the H&S thread, and that 3D showings aren't appearing on websites. Plus, a member actually pre-ordered a 3D ticket, and that seems to be gone.

I would take this as just speculation for now, until we hear officially or We will know for sure in about a week once the projectionist ingestion letter is available.

I got a newer TV commercial for this the other night and there was no mention of 3D, only IMAX.

Thanks Creed.
I tried a few searches, but it keeps bringing up theaters that are listing the 3D in the US. Quite a few. But you may be right considering they bailed on the 3D version in the US in the past for the last Fast Furious 3D film. We'll find out soon enough I guess. I wonder where Britnasty found that info.

Good point. Thanks. I know you were at the theaters, so hopefully there is still some chance of it. I don't want to get my hopes up though as with Alien Covenant, which was a mystery right till the very last week with no 3D afterall.

Then Need for Speed 3D, that was rumored to have 3D added with only 4 months before release in theaters. They pulled off a good, medium layered conversion mostly, and that wasn't confirmed for 3D till the very last week before release.

So anything is still possible.

Thanks.

My commercial from today on broadcast TV showed Real D 3D at the end, but it was a product advertisement tie in, saying to see the movie August 2nd. So it could've been an older add, just rebroadcast. They probably didn't want to reedit the commercials if they aren't including the 3D according to the rumor.

It's not in 3D in the UK, but then we have never had the trailers of TV Spots you guys did to say otherwise. Weird to start promoting it and then drop it last minute

Probably just a cheap and nasty effort to dump into Chinese cinemas.

Just like the last few F&F movies, there's no way this will get released on 3D Blu-ray.

I actually saw F&F 7 in 3D at some random imax theater somewhere in Japan where it literally was only playing for one day before a dragonball z movie took over, and at the beginning it definitely had some cardboard cut-out look (honestly it’s the thing I remember most lol) but the total CG parts I remember looking awesome, and the rest of the movie was never as bad as the beginning. I would like to have that 3D blu-ray but like it was said, no release anywhere :/

A real shame, this would have been a blast in 3D going by the trailers. The action looks pretty spectacular.

To be fair, Chinese conversions can be pretty good these days so it's a damn shame we're not going to get to see any of these films in 3D.

Never give up hope. Maybe one day a new generation of glasses free 3D TV hit the stores and titles like "Bumblebee 3D", "Mission Impossible: Fallout 3D", "Gemini Man 3D" and the Fast & Furious 3D pack is there too.

Would be an instant buy for all of this

Good point. Before 2010, there was no blu ray 3D format for watching stereo 3D unless one had some other format to display it with; projectors for example. Otherwise, the red/cyan glasses were the option for 3D fans at home most times. I have a few of those, but they were far and few compared to the amazingly wide selection of blu ray 3D titles available at this time.

But I agree that just because a film is in a vault, doesn't mean it can never resurface again in the future for new reasons. Look at all of the older 3D films that were brought back to life for blu ray 3D. So while it might not happen yet, it's possible it could still happen. Either on blu ray 3D or a new format in the future of 3D at home.

I have zero interest in glasses free technology so as long as those titles you said are compatible with the tech we have now then i’m in
