You're both right. Scream Factory won't send stock to Best Buy unless they agree to sell at MAP pricing levels. Best Buy won't stock Scream Factory titles unless they can sell them at their previously utilized retail price points which fall below MAP levels.
We've seen a handful of titles get around this in the last year, but overall the two parties have largely been at an impasse as a result of the pricing strategy. Wal-mart has largely taken the same stance as well. Interestingly enough, I do feel that Best Buy isn't doing themselves any favors however as their Severin, Vinegar Syndrome, and even Arrow titles have all dwindled compared to years past as well. |

With Best Buy decreasing the size of / phasing out their media sections, boutique labels likely aren't going to be stocked at most locations. If you only have a couple shelves worth of space, they're going to stock it with recent theater blockbuster type titles, not a collectors edition of a horror movie most people don't remember. Regardless of how well the genre sells, ultimately inventory levels are decided by a supply chain team who are going to stock what they've heard of or think is likely to sell.

How could anyone have Scream Factory's back in this process? Let BB sell it for what they will and let Capitalism sort it out... |

If Scream Factory is getting Paramount titles now, why couldn't part of the deal spill over into Shout!, the parent company, for the non-genre titles so many of us have been begging for?
ORDINARY PEOPLE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH (both of these Oscar-winners) ROMEO AND JULIET (1968) ROMAN HOLIDAY THE BRIDGES AT TOKO RI A CIVIL ACTION THE DESPERATE HOURS (1955) FEAR STRIKES OUT LADY SINGS THE BLUES LAST TRAIN TO GUN HILL MIRACLE OF MORGAN'S CREEK A PLACE IN THE SUN PLAY IT AGAIN SAM PRETTY BABY RACING WITH THE MOON ATLANTIC CITY THE RED TENT TESTAMENT YOU CAN COUNT ON ME a bunch of Jerry Lewis films (DISORDERLY ORDERLY, etc.) and many more... |

As for the Shout thing, if there is not written agreement, like with Google, Amazon, Apple, LG, Sony, etc, then MAP pricing cannot be forced upon the retailer, it's that simple. Shout wanted to play games that they had no contractual backbone for and some retailers said no. You may see a release here or there, but possibly not like before from Shout. |

Overall I agree. My local Best Buy removed their entire movie/music section earlier this year. All they have now is the New Release stand near the front of the store and a bin of cheap movies near the registers. Sure they still do exclusives for some New Release, mostly for really big popular films like Marvel, Star Wars and Disney stuff.

Spotted two copies of Hell Night at Best Buy yesterday, which threw me off a bit. 5 years ago a sight like that would've given me a heart attack (of happiness). Was almost tempted to grab another copy for my collection. I wonder if Arrow might license this at some point for the UK. I'll gladly double dip.

"Boring" is rarely ever a viable criticism of a film, but I can't say it's totally inapplicable here. Road Games was kind of a drag, which is a shame because the premise is fascinating.
No idea why they chose to virtually ignore the killer angle and instead focus on dull rapport between Keach and Curtis. |

Speaking of Paramount releases, I could go for a blu ray release of John Schlesinger's underrated thriller Eye for an Eye. I just got done with a refresher on amazon prime (it's included for free with a membership right now just fyi) and I forgot how good it is. Kiefer Sutherland plays a real scumbag in it. Solid performances all around and some very intense moments. Seems like it would be a good title for Scream or Shout! Factory.
