The home media market is gigantic. It can and will support lots of different tastes.
Google it, did you?

Furthermore it's ridiculous to predict that something will take over before most people even know what it is. If object-based broadcasting has to Googled it's extremely premature to say that it is going to change the face of media.

I'm beginning to think he went to school at a Tesco Express, a U.K. equivalent to our 7-11 convenience stores. He has learned to appreciate convenience so thoroughly.

It's dinner time here, so I must leave this riveting discussion. I can only wonder how many more comments there will be upon my return from that guy who said he was leaving his sage wisdom here without further comment?

I have been reading about the latest developments and advances for several years now. Especially from the BBC and BT.

The same BBC that ran that news article about attention spans being perfectly fine? That BBC?

Incidentally, reading and reading comprehension are not the same thing.

Nope, but it will be vegetarian. I earn extra time to sit on my arse watching TV tonight as a reward.

I understand it’s meaning fully thanks.

By the way, but just my opinion, the BBC WOULD say that wouldn’t they? It’s their business, they want eyeballs on screens. They don’t want negatives.

The BBC did not do the research; they simply reported the results of it. This alone shows that you do not have very good reading comprehension.

If you agree with what you think a news article reports, then it is the gospel truth. If not, it is a lie designed to increase ratings. How very convenient for you.

Are you really suggesting that a news website doesn't want to report negative stories because they are bad for business? Do you even read the news or do you just make it up wholesale? Much of it, if not most of it, is very negative. As negative as you are with all of your doomsday scenarios I would have thought that you would have at least noticed this much about the news and the world it reports upon.

Are you even on the same planet as the rest of us?

Thank you for summing it up so well. This, in a nutshell, is why they’ve both been reduced to GIF comments from me anymore

I think the same of some of you. A new tech that will allow viewers to alter the length of a show and the idea of having websites dedicated to highlights of shows. You lot can’t see what is coming here, but I can. Highlight video that can be grabbed and put on social media in seconds. It’s a dream come true for the younger generation. The ability to cut out parts of a show that they don’t like and get to the action? It’s the land of Oz for attention challenged youngsters. I Expect this and stuff like Quibi to take off in a big way.

Negative? Well yeah. I can’t think of a single positive about a website or service dedicated to highlights. Not one.

I've never read or heard anything about the end of traditional movies or TVs or couches or meat anywhere but in this thread. That type of nonsense just comes from Steedeel but he has somehow convinced himself that lots of articles are implying all of the same predictions.
It’s funny that you always stayed neutral but now you are joining your buddies. Wolf pack mentality, human nature eh?

Watch on th3 smallest screen you can and in SD.

Yeah, great future Vilya

And........

https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...t-data-centres

Read the last paragraph? Movies and tv safe, are they?

Seems I was talking sense after all.

To summarise

Streaming in HD and above is very energy reliant.

The bigger the screen, the higher the energy draws

5G mobile will consume most energy.

Video consumption may have to be rationed or taxed (please note the scary resemblance to my posts with that statement)

Photos may have to be sent in B&W.

Customers may be forced to move away from binge watching (again, resemblance)

This has got me wondering, could we return to analogue broadcast with 5 or 6 channels. Could we end up going back to the 50’s with Black And White broadcasts? Or worse, SD broadcasts?

Will that spark a battle between Netflix, Facebook, Disney for a space on that 5 or 6 channel limited capacity? Biggest bidders win? This would mean a linear channel with old fashioned broadcasting and ads of course. We would be back to a tv schedule and appointment viewing.

Or.........is satellite tv more environmentally friendly than broadband and 5G and could we see a combsck for those technologies.

In this scenario, TV sets would probably go back to 32-37 inches. The smaller the better if you can’t tolerate a mobile screen, right?

Or....... very worst case scenario, we don’t have access to video content anymore. We go back to pre war times, with radio and books and not much else.

More evidence of thought patterns

https://earther.gizmodo.com/your-bin...ing-1836311475

Watch less content. It seems I’m not alone and it’s surely a matter of time until this subject enters the public domain.

Binge shaming, call it what you will. Also, reading between the lines of some comments, it’s not hard to see data caps being the perfect excuse to introduce ‘restrictions on access to data’. That comment made me feel sick.

Nothing there of any interest; just another viewing option targeting mobile viewers commuting to work. Nothing in that article suggests or implies that any other form of entertainment is at risk. Just more BS spin from you.
