I could've sworn that after they announced the UK version, they told someone on facebook that a US release would be happening at a later date.

I asked them via private message on Facebook maybe two months ago if this would get a US release and they pretty much told me no as they were only able to get the UK rights. Glad that wasn't the case.

At least they have in the past from Arrow
Hopefully will be part of the next BN 50% off sale. That plus a 20% off coupon would get me to blind buy the sequels.

Bleh, really rather just have the first film then.

I don't know why they always treat Rasen so poorly; it's far better than the rehash that's Ring 2.

Providing they were being truthful there, that suggests this may have been a very recent breakthrough, which could have something to do with Paramount. If they don't announce anything telling in the meantime, we'll have to see if their logo is on the final product.

I have the UK set already. But, very good news for those who missed out, or aren't region free.

They treat it the way they do because it's never been all that liked compared to the others, even though they were received lukewarmly as well. It was shown with Ring as a double bill and was quickly forgotten even then, unfortunately.

TBH they didn't treat it all that poorly cuz it looks really nice. It's not what you'd think! This is easily the best way it's ever been presented, not to mention the other sequels.

Spiral is there in HD from an older master just like Ring 2 and 0. IIRC the disc menu plays out more like a double feature than having Spiral listed as a mere extra. It's just a matter of packaging and marketing of this set.

It should still be presented on the same level as the other films. Listed on the box, not an "extra."

Are these transfers (other than the first film) better than the Ringu: Anthology of Terror that Dreamworks put out? 'Cos I have that.

Very much so.

Spiral doesn't look too great, but that's because it's just a cheap, flat looking movie to begin with.

Might see a few people from the UK buying this too since the LE sold out over there. Although, I'm wondering if this one may be locked since the rights are different here than over there.

It is presented as the other films tho. It's not buried in an extras menu, the movie is right there on the Ring 2 disc. It being advertised as a "bonus" isn't reductionist. lol

I can understand being upset if this were a third generation sloppy VHS era lookin transfer but getting uppity over terminology used on the packaging is kinda silly ngl.

Absolutely. No DVD compression, no DNR, no messed up colors.

I think Arrow were going for more conformity since it's titled aa Ringu collection, and the tittles featured are Ringu, Ringu 2, and Ringu 0. Putting Rasen (or Spiral) on the packaging kind of takes away from that uniformity of titlee

Also, the Ringu films are all considered "canon" so to speak, while Rasen is sort of disowned after Ringu 2 came out

Honestly, I remember Rasen not being very good and the weakest link of these four films. I probably need to check it out again.

Very happy about this.

Now please release Heathers in the US. Fran Simeoni told me on Twitter that RLJ wanted to keep it to themselves, but you never know.

Well, for those of us who read the books, Rasen is the real sequel.

Birthday was the one I really didn't like. I thought it took away all the mystery of the character. It's also the only book of the series I haven't read (though I probably will someday.)

True. I love the books, and read them nearly every year. I'm not even sure which is my favorite. I love the first one, but Spiral is such a good story too, and Loop puts everything on its head in a cool way. I've only read Birthday once, but I don't remember it that much. My mom actually got me the first 2 books signed and inscribed by Suzuki for my b-day, so they're very special to me.
