Another day one here. I was at the wrap party for it at Cafe Munchen way back. Won a competition and got a goody bad loaded with stuff

Mr Barker's comment when he saw me was "Nice to see a familiar face". Speechless!

Not sure if I’ll pick this up. I already have the Scream deluxe edition, and it doesn’t look like there is much being added here over that release. Too bad there isn’t a third cut of the film included.

I remember something about a new cut being created last year, that eventually fell through for whatever reason.

Nice already have the US release bought from dvdworldusa(remember them) pre-ordered this too. I reckon they left the Kabal cut because either rights issue or becuase it uses lot of vhs inserts.

maybe I'm seeing this wrong, but there appears to be exclusive features to this release that aren't on the Scream deluxe edition.

The Cabal Cut was released as a very limited edition blu ray a few years ago via Clive Barker’s official website. I’m pretty sure I read something that inclined it was going to be the only release of this cut, and that they were only allowed to release it in very limited quantities.

Yeah, but just a few and they only seem to include film critics. No one involved in the production of the movie appears in the new features.

Shame it doesn't have the Cabal cut, would've been nice to have them all together.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of the Cabal cut blu ray, have yet to watch it.

At least now I can sell my Shout Factory one as this has everything from that release in it

More than likely. You’ll have to import this one.

No way! Digipacks get creases on the spine during production or shipping. My copy of Reanimator, and Bride both have them. Unless they put them in a hard slip box, then it might be ok.

Quote:
- New audio commentary on the theatrical cut by critics Adrian J Smith and David Flint

- Walking the Line Between Heaven and Hell, a new video interview with critic Kat Ellinger

- Speaking up for the Monsters, a new video interview with critic Kim Newman

- Limited edition 40-page booklet, featuring new writing on the film by author and critic Amy Simmons and an in-depth history of the film’s development, release and rehabilitation by Mark Salisbury, co-author of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed: The Making of the Film
Those are the only added features if you already have the prior limited edition boxset. I already own the boxset and a copy of Cabal Cut so I think I'm good.

But knowing me, I'll still end up buying this sometime down the road.

Nice looking set (especially the Decker artwork), but for me the only double dip reason would have been the Cabal Cut or perhaps an expanded Danny Elfman score CD. Still great for the UK to have its release though and have it be Arrow.

Also, might be a principal thing, but given the restoration work and effort that went into it at the time, the Scream Factory edition remains a keeper and a surreal release in many ways.

Are you serious? digipacks are the awful, cheap and weak pack in the industry, very easy to damage during transit, bends and other problems; nothing beats a solid plastic case that protect more (scanavos, amarays, even the normal blu cases are better).

Sadly Criterion still release some of his titles on Digipack.

How different are the theatrical cut and the director's cut - is it just 20 minutes of additional footage, or is there a bunch of alternate footage as well?

Never been a big box kind of guy, but if the eventual standard edition only has the director's cut I might have to bite on this.

IIRC its 20 mins longer but has about 45 mins of alternate footage.

I'm not very familiar with the film to be honest. Got the Spanish release of the DC but couldn't tell you the differences between that and the Theatrical cut off hand

Absolutely not. Amarays are much better & more durable then digipacks. That said I already have the SF LE set & the new features don't really interest me so ill pass on this one.
